Any of these appeal?

Post by Philip Chidlow »

I was toying with the idea of a plate for the 16v, but all I could think of - like C1TBX (£850) - were either too expensive or not available...

But these grabbed my attention:

(And forgive the Reg seller's interpretation!)

and the one I am/was most tempted by:

A 16 (S)soupapes BX:

They are a waste of money and the cloak of the chav.

I toyed with the idea once, but only once, I quite fancied having CBX 16V, but the moment passed quick enough.
It's cheaper to change your name by deed poll!
I'm now F614 TFB!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Yet none of them look like they have anything to do with a BX really. I wouldn't bother tbh.

:D Now, that's an idea. Burberry cloaks

Here in D it's a different story with the number plates. A vehicle will change numbers with its owners and when you go to get it registered you get a new number. This is a random number unless you pay €10 and then can choose anything if it's available, within a certain configuration.

The first two letters of a German number plate denote its place of origin i.e my yellow fella is KN which is Konstanz, then up to three letters followed by upto four numbers i.e KN BX 1988 - that is probably available as there's no BXs around (So don't brand me a chav if I do indulge myself for €10 worth when I go to get the reddish number registered.)
A brief note on the system here. Unfortunately reems of paperwork featuring unpronouncable words also feature.
No such thing really as a ' private plate' here and hence no stigma like in Uk. Though I reckon PH 1L would suit you Phil if you had €€€€s :D ( no pound sign on this machine..)

You're spot on about the money Todd. I once bought B51 XKR - a ratty Passat - for £100, then when the car died I sold the plate for nearly £200 to a bloke with a Jag XKR. Great fun!

i would have thought ABX 16V would have been the one to have ,i have tried to get BXI 900 but it was never issued so may come to auction sometime. I have spoken to the guy who owns BXI 9 and yes he would sell it but when the price was mentioned i thought if i spend that much on a number plate i may as well move out now!

I saw an Activa on e-bay a while back with the plate A6TVA.

They're not for me as I like to blend in to the scenery somewhat, hence my love of Q-cars but subtle ones like the one above are quite aceptable in my book.

The ones that bend letters and numbers to make up a naff word really do get my goat. Once I saw a pick-up belonging to a shooting outfit with the plate K11 LEM which when distorted and suitably spaced, interspersed with fixing screws and italicised read:

KILL 'EM

It did not last long like this and soon reverted to plain old K11 LEM. I guess plod had a quiet word with them...

Personalised numbers are one thing, but the Mickey Mouse lettering you see on some plates annoys me. They deserve the £1000 fine as far as I'm concerned.

Don't know if you know this but Steve Parrish the motorcycle rider /truck racer has a mercedes convertible with the registration PEN 15. 8)
He put this on the car because his wife used it too much and after the new number she wouldn't drive it.
So they have some good uses.

Regards Kermit :) :)
