Well I picked her up yesterday and she got me the 60+ miles home with no problems. Will have to sort a few things of course such as the exhaust banging on the floor when you hit a pothole - the clocks second hand goes round but the hour and minute hands dont move - choke light does'nt come on - paint has crazed on the bonnet - will put some sounds in her soon. She needs a good clean up in and out - but I think she will be great for what I need her for. All trivial and (hopefully!!) fairly easy to fix stuff. I have come across a very good mechanic in Bexhill who is very enthusiastic about Citroens and has a lot of BX odds and sods kicking around his workshop - so I will pay him a visit soon. The main thing is that I think she will be reliable and economical and will get me to work every day. £120 a year road tax - £120 a year fully comp. insurance and the best part of 40 to the gallon - the less I have to give to Mr Brown the more I like it!!. Will post more as I find out more about her and perhaps post some pictures in the gallery as I believe at least one past owner is a regular poster here.

Further to the above - I've just given it a good clean and she looks a lot more presentable now. The crazing on the bonnet is hardly noticeable now as it was covered in green 'tree gunge' before and joy of joys the clock is now working!!. Off to Halfords now to get a couple of new wiper blades.

Nice work matey! I'd love a bid on the Merc but already have one (well, the baby brother of your car, a 190E) and a few others too and I'm trying to have a clear out!

Just caught this thread for the first time - that looks to be a very well-preserved example, and economical to run to boot.

fatgeezer - I think I've got a pair of unused and original St Tropez white-painted wheel trims - if you feel the need for a spares or if you are into keeping it as original-looking as possible for as long as possible. Postage costs only, and then only if it's more than a couple of quid to post.

If you're interested in them, PM me. Alternatively, it's probably quite easy to paint more of your own..... after all, that's what Citroen did with these TGD/TGS-spec trims.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

I shared ownership of this car with Chris before the clutch died. It drove really nicely and the only other fault I found that you haven't mentioned was that I could never totally shut off the heating (stuck heater tap?). Hopefully that's been fixed by now as it was pretty annoying in the summer!

Glad it's gone to a nice new home :)

Mark.
