TBH I haven't even asked him... I'm saving the ZX for him!
But I think he prefers now to leave the engine problems to other people - he's semi-retired now and only really does routine servicing and suspension repairs.
But he's my next port of call anyway should it still not work after next Tuesday

Just sorting through some archive CDs and came across these images:
First, the day my GSX got killed, then a close up of the Visa's front, showing BX 8v GTi engine fitted and then our 'fleet' c. March 2003, shortly after we returned from France...
Thought they might be of some interest... especially the GSX ones - you can see how well it stood up to the impact. It was a quite a bang!

Good god, it's that stupid bitch again! She gets everywhere so she does!Philip Chidlow wrote:
Didn't look to unrepairable that Phil, although you should really have enticed the stupid bitch under the car and then dropped it on her.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Sitting here having spent the last 5 hours rebuilding (system/software-wise) my Apple Mac. I've been caning it for three years without a break. Thought a clean up was in order. Now it's freed up a lot and wow! - might not have to upgrade after all. Incredible machines. Incredible OS.
Listening the Space Ritual - Hawkwind - at full blast with a full glass of wine and a purring Mac. Heaven.

Feel teh love!jonkw wrote:I reckon I could have repaired that GS, providing it had not thrown both belts during impact. Gotta love them though haven't you, last time I worked on a GSA was 1993!!! I still am deeply in awe of the GS and GSA, despite what we had to do in those days in terms of rear subframe welding and the like; Great car to drive!
That must have been a real shitter Phil - very sad pics of the GSX

Makes me wonder what happened to other BXs of mine: Some I know (or think I do) -
Terry's got the silver estate GRX,
Doc has ELF
White '89 GTi RLO (Way2go has this I think)
Silver '91 GTi auto DGK
Green '92 GTi manual PPG
White '90 16TGS auto (low mileage one sold not so long ago on a 'G' - forget the plate)
Red '87 GTi manual APK

Well, quite a lot on my plate these days. Impending holiday and such.
Took the Fait (sic) Ulysse out after supposedly having the idling (or complete lack of) problem solved only to find, with a 225 mile trip back home ahead of me, it had returned. The stepper motor (right there Doc) which operates the idle control valve is fubar and I am really hoping that I don't have to drive like that again for any distance.
On the upside it shows itself a very good motorway/A-road mile-muncher. Comfortable, quiet and it soaks up bumps very well. Corners a bit like a barge, but hey. Get about 30-32 mpg on a run too, so, with an 80 litre tank it still has useful range of around 480-500 miles without too much trouble. We shall see how it performs in France. (Still wish it was a Synergie!).
On the BX front there have been stirrings and I am now convinced I will get another BX one day. My old 16v is up for sale again and - if I had the £££s I'd buy it back (I know what I said before!) and put it in a garage (well, I am hoping to finally get one!)...
but on a slightly more realistic note I might go for the GTi auto that was offered on here recently. I will wait until I can get to look at it at the National and if there are any of you BXperts there maybe we could do a sort of inspection?
The only other BX that would tempt me at the moment is a TZD or TXD Turbo. But good ones of those don't come up too often - well they do but they're always either at the wrong time or a million miles away (like the red TZD Turbo estate on this forum recently).
But I do have a soft spot for the BX GTi so let's see how it goes...
See you at the National!
