Good of you to offer parts from it to everyone else in the club, or to offer the car for sale so that someone else to do the repairs needed.

Oh, hang on.....

Oh well, you can't save 'em all I guess... But offering the car for parts would have been nice :?

I have to say that if it was my car, I probably would have fixed it, but that's just me...

Hope you enjoy your Zafira.

He may be small and green, but he makes sense.

I speak as someone who's been told to scrap a very good BX (which is still on the road, three years later) because of a broken exhaust hanger.

Popularity, a rare thing.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

The folly of youth, eh? Don't be too hard on the chap.

There're still BX's in abundance. Now, if it'd been a GS or even a Visa, well....

Perhaps we should compile a sticky for future reference: things motor trade people say about a BX when what they really mean is

"Get that old French car off my forecourt/out of my yard as I don't want to fix it or can't be bothered".

Unfortunately, I think it could be a very long list.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Answer No it isn't cos i can fix it myself with all the help i need from my mates on the BX forum so stuff your newer crap where the sun don't shine.
See you next year for the MOT then.

No, what you did was weighed in a complete BX that could have been repaired with a minimal amount of work, or broken for spares to keep others on the road, without mentioning to anyone on the forum that you intended to.

Had you said "I'm going to weigh in my BX, if anyone wants to buy any bits off me, or offer me scrap value for it, please contact me" that would have been a different matter. Even if no-one had replied, at least the offer had been made.

What makes this particularly annoying is that you'd already discussed what the problems are in this very thread, and knew that a number of people had mentioned that it sounds like an easy fix.

But you scrapped it.

and laughed about it.

/\ what he said.

It was more than likley that for the cost of alternator belt, and maybe a cam belt if you were feeling frivolous it probably would have been fine.
Maybe an hours work.

Further, even if you hadn't the inclination to fix it, someone could have repaired it easily and cheaply and kept it going.

Further still, even if the thing was cactus, you'd have made considerably more than the weigh in for the parts from the car.
In short, it was a bit of a waste.
