Lets hope it finds a home, 1.6 petrols normally dont have people scrabbling for them.

This is always going to be a personal opinion rather than an objective fact, but I must admit I've finally - after all this time - come round to the prevailing opinion that small petrol engines in a BX are wrong.
The NA diesels plod a bit, admittedly, but the TDs suit the car, go better, drink less and even sound better than the 1.6 petrols.
I reckon it'll always be down to preference, but for my part I don't think I'd have a petrol BX again.

Having owned a '16' (in auto guise too) I must say it never left you feeling at too much of a disadvantage - in fact pick up was quite good. The 19D estate was good too, but so different in character. As Stu points out it's a matter of taste - but I prefer the relative quiet and smoothness of a petrol. Even my 1.9TD ZX although a superb engine, lacks some refinement over, say a GTi 8v petrol.
BXs are, we know lovely cars to drive. A well sorted 16 should be, on the whole, a pleasure to own. Even if, as I found out, a little boring and only 32-34 mpg. An N/A 19D is too - (if you don't mind the noise), but really, IMHO it was its fuel efficiency that made it attractive (apart from being a nice BX, that is).
This BX needs some TLC, but someone will get a decent car for not much by the look of it.

Maybe I should have waited for a TD, but overall I still think my 1.6 has been decent value for money.
Even if it sounds like an old Escrote and I keep thinking "90 bhp my arse"... although a thorough tuneup session on a rolling road would sort that. I still don't thinking I'm getting 100% from the engine. Plus I only seem to be getting 30 mpg.
On the plus side, for the time being they're going to be cheap, and cheap to insure, and have more toys than the 14.
Mark.

Dave, at least you saved it from a certain death
Trouble with the bx is that, prices vary quite a bit & you never know how much something will go for. Really nice one's (the unpopular models) end up sometimes going for less than well used one's, bit of a lottery especially when its petrol.
Diesels seem to be a little bit more consistent, as any person will buy it at the right price, so that pushes prices up a bit. I think we are a long way off from them becoming collectable & seeing consistent price rises.
Always a good thing if you are building up your collection
, not quite so good when selling, but at least you arent likely to lose that much in depreciation....
