Spot for my sister please!
Hurrah! My sister has managed to write off her Daewoo Tacuma, whoopee! I'm not being (very) sarcastic, she is actually really pleased as she was planning to sell it anyway so this just saves her the hassle.
I don't know how she did it and I don't think I want to know...
Anyway, she's up for something smaller to replace it, something Saxo/Fiesta sized, preferably four doors, and she wants to spend about £1,000 - £1,500.
She's based in SE London.
Of course, I think a BX diesel would do her just fine - small-car running costs and big-car convenience - but she'd say it was too old and she'd probably kill it quite quickly.
So, you keen ebay spotters and those of you who are bored at work today, if you see anything suitable please do let me know!

Low mileage late Maestro
I'm serious actually, doubt she'll get anything in better condition for the money, and it should be fairly hassle free to run.

Nice idea, but I'd be quite upset when she inevitably kills it
Actually, I think she should do what I've always done - buy cheap old bangers and throw them away when they die. She doesn't actually give a shit about what she's driving, and she never maintains them, so I don't really understand why she wants something young-ish.
Sorry, that sounds really mean! I love my sister, but she is a car-killer!

My brother like your sister is not a car person, he gets in and drives it, unless I check the oil and water he would keep driving it until it stops (which he did with a Mk2 Cavalier). Its strange that 2 siblings can be so different when it comes to cars, His 57 plate which he had new hasnt been washed in 10 months.
How about something japanese for reliablity, old Corolla aroudn renowned for being unburstable or maybe a Honda Civic, round here the yong asian lads "chav" them up and thrash them to death and they keep going!
Arent the 106/AX diesels known for headgasket problems?

It's a shame she wants something so new, otherwise a 205 would be an excellent contender, being more rugged, spacious and easier to live with than a 106/AX/Saxo.
Next best thing would be to talk her into a good 306 Diesel, but make sure it is an XUD one rather than the (tempramental) HDI and (slower and thirstier) DW8.

Bumpity bump!
She's still looking, and driving me nuts with texts complaining about the bus service and asking me why I haven't found anything yet. Problem is, she wants something that doesn't exist.
We went to look at a lovely Xsara, 1999, 1.4 petrol, PAS, a few extras, at £1500 which I thought would be perfect for her, but she says it's too big. Problem is, small cars cost more.
She has, reluctantly, raised her budget but still doesn't want to spend more than about £1500 for something smaller than a Xsara, in the low tax bracket, and - more nebulously - something that she likes the look of.
She made an appointment to go and look at a Corsa that a friend of hers was selling (despite knowing my thoughts on the horrible little tin cans) but the friend's husband had already sold it.
I sent her some photos of a Micra (last model) that was for sale near here, but she didn't like the look of it.
She will not be budged on the question of diesel, it's got to be a 1.4 for the lower tax bracket in her mind.
Please help!
