FDV replacement

See the sunk in piston? Will that FDV stillwork? What I mean is under pressure will it pop back into place flush with the one beside it?

No idea how it ended up like that only thing can think of little fingers of a 5 year old or simply suction from removed pipes! Ok later maybe not.

I KNOW you can get replacement kits at $180 per shot not an option when half the price from GSF! Need a temporary fix to get through WOF or until get the kit.

I understand your wariness as I've found that restrictions on space around the FDV persuaded me to remove the radiator when removing/replacing one, after much fiddling around with cutdown spanners and the like. THe jobe ends up much simpler in the long run, at least on the Turbodiesel and TZI models on which I've done this job.

As for the plug, I'm afraid I have no idea. If that's where one of the filters normally lives then it makes me wonder whether there's a filter present. Pure speculation on my part, however.

If you lubricate the hole with LHM then shove the plug in a bit then release it, the spring force should bring it back into position.

Otherwise, I'm pretty sure it will pop back into place under pressure if you put it back in the car.

The kit is probably along with the octopussy for the other car winging its way on NZ1 as I write from GSF.(all our post seems to come via NZ1 )

That French diagram is invaluable and very very useful thanks. Has put my mind at ease a bit!

Still the thought of removing the radiator and bleeding the cooling system again after recent head replacement is something I am not relishing. My water problems came up after I did the last collant change As can understand a bit paranoid now, that years of none BX ownership dulled the mind to a mistake.

Got to be done though
