Some of us are more competent/technically knowledgeable and/or confident than others. Also I only have the roadside to work on a car - not ideal.
It's the decision I have made that, if I am going to have a BX I can justify not doing all the work myself, by the fact it still costs me a lot less than running a younger/more modern car.
Reassuring though, that these jobs (bar the rear arm bearings) are so simple, because it won't cost me the earth.

Mmmh..........Had to replace the front strut where it broke down at the roadside 30 miles away. Couldn't even drive it home to replace it as it was emptying the contents of the lhm reservoir in a few minutes through the return blown apart by the pressure bypass!Philip Chidlow wrote:Also I only have the roadside to work on a car - not ideal.
Not ideal but when needs must!

Not much to report.
I've just bought a pair of front fogs for the BX, vgc, working, for £10 + P&P. Don't need them but will overhaul them, clean them up and yellow tint them. They'll be my BXagon fogs. (Or my spares if I need them)...
I'm looking forward to getting my front struts etc. delivered as well soon!
I thought I would use the opportunity, when I get them done, to ask Dennis (Mr. Citroen Softride) if he would like to sponsor my BXagon team... and maybe squeezing some free labour out of him too...

It might be a bit late now Phil, but I think that these look good on good on a BX. They fit quite tidily in the existing holes too...

More bits, this time from Roy Hassel. Excellent service and very reasonable cost too. (Brand new electric, heated driver's side mirror, used VGC near side electric mirror plus a few unexpected 'bonus items' including new ashtrays and a new rear view mirror. Nice'n clear - as opposed to the one I have which is a little dulled with age - so that was welcome!)
Shame he was mauled by certain members to the extent he has now decided not to have anything else to do with the Forum. Let's hope if enough of us keep in touch he will understand we are generally a good lot really.

I bought some yellow film for the front fogs. Couldn't resist applying it. Looks cool IMHO!
The set of front fogs I bought off eBay the other day were crap. I can't be arsed to make a fuss. I think I'll just keep my eyes open for a new-ish set or buy the ones Mat recommended

Just for you Phil , I took a few quick shots of mine this afternoon so you can see how they look on a BX.Philip Chidlow wrote:buy the ones Mat recommended
Off...
...and both on.
Not sure if they would fit within the original factory housings, mine didn't have that luxury so I just removed a few slats in the bumper.

Cold snap finally killed the battery. It was a 360 amp budget make of 6 year's vintage. Checked out Ato Express's tests and bought the recommended 440 amp Calcium one from Halfords (needs as must). Fired up eagerly first time. Pissed off as I dropped my 'Plipper' this morning and now it doesn't work. The batteries were getting v.weak though so maybe it's a co-incidence. If it is mullered can I easily recode another as I have the original (I seem to remember they have a sticker inside with the code? Not sure.
Anyway, going for a blast this afternoon.
