The gear stick to gear box linkage became detatched today, at the link "half way" along the rod. Obviousl result was that I lost all gears.
The link wouldn't go back together, because the nylon bush had worn out.
A simple enough replacement, but the car was still recovered from the roadside by the AA.
It appears that the nylon bush isn't helped here, by its proximity to the exhaust !
Also, my indicator/headlight stalk switch has broken off, although the "stub" can still be used for these functions. I'll glue the thing back together when the weather gets warmer, and the glue can set properly.
I have no BX obs for November, because I didn't spot any "new" BXs !
Seasons greetings from

If you use araldite then it's the chemical action between the 2 part mix that sets the adhesive. It's usually a more permanent repair too.jrdpod wrote: my indicator/headlight stalk switch has broken off, although the "stub" can still be used for these functions. If heat is a problem and the bush is actually nylon, then can you source (or fabricate) a replacement in PTFE (Teflon). PTFE has excellent properties for the purpose.jrdpod wrote:

Minro but irritating faults
Thanks very much for the useful tips.
I'll try Araldite as you suggested.
With the linkage, it is being replaced, but I will bear in mind what you said.
Regards
John Podgorski/jrdpod.

Minor bus irritating faults
Hi Roverman,
Yes I would be interested in the switch you mention.
I can PM you my details.
The gear linkage is now sorted. Both parts of the rod were replaced, for good measure.
Regards
John Podgorski/jrdpod.
