1991 CITROEN BX 19 TGD Estate FOR SALE

Post by davytriumph »

Hi,

I am looking to sell my late fathers BX estate which he had from new and has looked after it very well, it was regularly serviced and garaged every night. Even if the car got dirty on a run, it would have been washed when he got home.
My Father passed away in June last year and my Mother could not face the car being sold, so we both decided to keep the car on the road. However, with the car due for an MOT in March and the Tax due at the end of February, my Mother, being a pensioner, cannot afford to keep the car on the road. So the time has come to let the car go. I have only advertised the car on this forum as I would like to think that an enthusiast would like to own and take care of it as my Father had done since 1991, rather than some ordinary punter on the street getting their grubby paws on it.
I don`t have any photographs of the car yet, I may try to get a few at the weekend. The car is dark green in colour and has not been modified in any way. Starts great, drives great and looks great.
As I mentioned, the Tax expires at the end of February and I think the MOT expires in the middle of March. Mileage is approx 130k. The car is in Irvine, Ayrshire. Viewing welcome. Feel free to ask any questions, I`m no car expert, but I`ll do my best.
Price my Mother will accept is £450.

Regards,

Davy

Sounds a nice example. I would suggest that this, in many ways would be an ideal steed for the BXagon Challenge. Economical, roomy, comfortable...

Someone here must consider this car as a good bet and take it on, surely.

Sir Keen of Chidlowshire, you think every BX is ideal steed for the Bxathon - and they are..... cos they're a BX!!!!

Sad to hear you need to let it go DavyT, but if it's going to saved anywhere, it'll get saved here. There was one member who joined recently who was specifically after an Estate. I'll try and find his username so you can PM him if you choose to. Alas for fear of spending my remaining years as a Eunuch, I must refrain from purchase! Good luck!

Of course, Sir! I can extoll the virtues of the BX and the BXagon to excess thanks to the wonderful 'It's all in a good cause" mantra

Tis true - it's a worthwhile mantra at that. Surely you can find room for a 2nd Bx in your fleet Phil? Then you can have a choice of contenders for the Bxatron!

Well, tempted though I might be, I can't, especially given it's hundreds of miles away! No, I've got my hands full ensuring the GTi is tip top. And if we need a BXagon Back-up, Phil (Kermit) is preparing his TZD Turbo hatch just in case...

That, Sir, would be your humble servant. I'm still looking - but buying blind 400 miles from home is a job for a braver man than myself. So with some regret at the passing of another opportunity, I fear I must decline.

Yes Roughbert twas you! Mulley has a point really, if you can ask the right questions then you can at least eliminate your worst fears, and buy from a distance, so long as you don't expect perfection. It's going to be a rare find to get one that needs no work.

PICTURES of my Dads Car

Post by davytriumph »

Though it was terrible weather today, I have managed to get some decent photographs of Dads Car. The car started with ease as usual.
The car has done 128.5k. (seen in pictures) In the glovebox and inside the handbook were all the old MOTs and all the old Tax discs from new. Just thought I would mention it as someone may be interested. Also pictured, is the car fitted wth a beautifully made roof rack built my Father. If interested, it will be included with the car.

Calling Citroen 7.... er.. ferry from Stranraer to Larne, short journey either side.. just trying to feed the Irish BX stock :D

Looks like a goodun although to generate more interest on here as i think has already been mentioned, would want to see loads of pics of usual rust-prone areas, front door hinges, Sill seams, front wheel arches and more of an idea of the service history and what work has been done when.

It looks lovely; get it bought!

I got my BX from Exeter and drove it back to Newcastle with no MOT, I really think you have to be prepared to travel to get the right car.
