Who knows Todd, thats the trouble with govts, they change their minds all the time. I suspect that once the credit crunch disappears, the road tax rates for older vehicles will rise dramatically to encourage people to purchase newer/lower emission one's. What's always pee'd me off is that if you have more than 1 car, you have to tax each one even though you can only drive one at a time :x

There is also no incentive to do anything on older cars to make them more ecological, at least in germany you can get the lower rate of road tax by fitting a cat, ok it still costs more than the uk, but at least you've got the option as opposed to having to pay that rediculous top rate amount that you've quoted before.

I just wish there were more motor manufacturers working on updating their old cars to have lower emissions & better fuel consumption, rather than creating all these modern cars which infact are worse for the environment due to their complexity & reliance on rare elements.

The green thing is just a smokescreen for a lot of companies & govts to raise money off gullible punters.....

alas motor tax over here is much higher - €551 a year for the TZD

somewhat offset by lower fuel prices, although with the current exchange rate its nearer than it was, but then cost of living and wages being higher, i suppose its all relative.

My next car will be owned by my dad in the UK i think with 365 days insurance cover abroad me as a named driver, avoids higher road tax and the import duty.

But then if i want to sell it over here... what a clusterfu*kiclally complicated loopholian world we live in.
