What I was refering to is engaging reverse to quickly before the forward motion of the gearing has had time to reduce its speed. Have you checked the condition of the lever arm on top of the gear box - the one the clutch cable connects to? The one on my Series 2 gradually split about 18 months ago and in the latter stages was OKish when everything was cold, but once warmed up (clutch cable expanded??) I had to ram the clutch hard to the floor to change gear - and then with a crunch...
Photos are old one in situ and with new one for comparison. Citroen part No = 96 134 964.
