Mat, I was going to suggest using google translater which is very good and automatically translates each page as you open it but no need; The chosen language of the forum is English.

That is correct. The meaning of this new Forum is to give Citroëndrivers from all over the world a possibillity to meet eachother online.

Again: it is a general Citroën forum, not a type-specific one. And no way that I was willing to create an exodus of forummembers...
MULLEY wrote:Hilko, i wouldn't take it personally, this is only a car forum & not everyone agrees with each other, or necesserily understands humour or intentions on certain posts, which may have been the case this time. Mood swings can also play a part
I know...
Certainly no mood swings here gents.... :D My menopause is well past!!

All I've done is politely express my misgivings about our chum Hilko and his new "Worldwide Citroen site".

Interestingly, I note that although he's already said 'goodbye' and done the flouncy-flouncy thing, he's still here taking messages.

I'm interested in what the rest of the gang think about this strange little womble that's popped up in our midst. I do hope he's not a teddy chucker. !!!---)))

I doubt that I (as a new member) constitute being part of "the gang", but as you asked for opinions I hope mine is useful - if not feel free to ignore it. That's the thing about opinions...

As I understand it, hilko16tzi has been a member of this forum for longer than I have, and he informed us of a new international English language subsection of the long-established Dutch site, and invited us to have a look at it. I can't see anything either wrong or misleading in this. If I've missed anything, please let me know.

I can't see much likelihood of 'poaching members' (or boiling... :D ), and as someone who has lived in a few (and has friends in many more) countries, I personally like to see the cars (and the parts opportunities!) and generally make like-minded contacts and friends from all over, and I can't say that I see this as anything other than that.

Will I be going to have a look? Yes. Will I be leaving bxclub? No.

Just my 20 Roubles...

One Citroen enthusiast letting other Citroen enthusiasts know about another Citroen forum thet we may or may not like to join in!

Got to be honest Bob I personally don't see a problem with that, perhaps an approach to the administrators first would have been in order but i'll leave that to those with a little more knowledge of forum etiquet to decide.

Hilko, Thank you for letting us know about the site.

Okay - I'll clamber back into my box (the one with 'Grinch' on the lid). It's just that I see rather a lot of odd people pitching up with news of "Cum and see mi brill new 'forem' " and trawling for members.

Remember too that every post made on a new 'forem' is a post not made on this one - and to forums, posts are life blood. This one has a cameraderie that's quite unusual - and, I suggest, worth protecting.

I'm just overly wary - as a busy forum mod myself, I see far too much internet crap to swallow anything without checking it out first (oooer nurse!). When the information given doesn't even add up (a 'new' forum with thousands of posts) then I tend to go into defensive mode (which is all I did - I didn't call the guy any names - I didn't even call him nathty namethe)

Maybe it's not my problem and I ought to shut my klappe - but I wuz only thinking of you guys <SWALK> <HOLLAND> etc, etc .... Image

Is it one of these?

Back OT, personally I don't have problems with Hilko mentioning the new forum.

I'm not sure I agree entirely with
Remember too that every post made on a new 'forem' is a post not made on this one
as you can be having completely different conversations on another forum, and anyway it's quality not quantity that counts!
I would agree with
This one has a cameraderie that's quite unusual - and, I suggest, worth protecting.
so long may it continue.

I say chaps!

Is there a formal mechanism for complaining to the moderating team about members posting blatant and titillating porn of this most debased kind on an otherwise serious thread? Image Image

I'm sorry Bob, you are of course welcome to let the moderating team know if the porn is not to your liking. Perhaps you would be less overcome with desire at the sight of more flesh on show, of the younger variety?
