If it's working could you possibly give me your best guess as to how far the plunger moves in millimetres please - I've just had a thought that I might be able to use the solenoid for another project.

It's working now, the spring should have been inside the plunger not wedged up inside - well I assume that as it works now

Best guess is about 4mm - I didn't half get some funny looks out the front while I was doing it as well :D

Well done for sussing the spring in the wrong place - I've never had one of these out to play with but 'wedged up inside' doesn't sound like the right place.

Hopefully some of the funny looks were blokes thinking 'whoa - there's a woman who knows more about cars than I do '

Thanks for the 4mm estimate - that should be enough for my project :-)

I agree. Many of the boy racers don't have a clue what all the bits do Unless it's fake carbon fibre and sticky backed :D

It's not often a man thanks a woman for her estimate of 4mm ;)

Even though it might be enough for my other project - it's not even impressive for a solenoid

It'd make a gnat's eye's water....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
