I know I want to.

I intend to go and have a look-see over the next few days. I would go tomorrow but as I have said above the XM is in for some maintenance. Anyone able to give me a starting point for insurance specialists who won't want my testicles as well as my first born?

Apart from my first ever speeding ticket picked up while test driving an Espace last year I am a good bet: old, no claims, decent post code etc.

...and only 10 mins up the road from me too....

However, I don't have the money, and if I somehow found the money, I'd probably lose half the car in the ensuing divorce... :?

I like the fact it looks so stock from the outside - no shiny bits added. Bit of a sleeper with all the mods under the bonnet!

I've heard HIC are good for modified stuff, and I've also heard that Adrian Flux are much less flexible than they used to be.

I've never had a claim or speeding offence in my life... but I'm 20 and generally get (actually) laughed at when looking for quotes on tasty cars. Thankfully the BX is seen as low risk. My premium went down when I switched from my Audi 80 TDI SE.

Go for it Rob... I'd be happy to see this car go to anyone who isn't planning on stealing the engine, as even with a standard engine put back in it looks to be a particularly good example.

Thanks for that, Matt.
I have found that Lynwood were very good for my last two high performance cars, but they weren't very competitive on the more mundane XM.

"A deposit has now been taken on this car."

Someone was quick off the mark.

Hopefully it'll turn up amongst the faithful - at that price it ought to put the puggers off, even with the engine work. I'm not a fan of white on a p2 - they just seem to always look a little shabby around the edges unless they're mint. I sold my p2 6 years ago, but just for a moment I was tempted......

Bit cheeky that?!

New ad:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Citroen-BX-1-9-GT ... 3f07ea728e

If he wants top dollar for it now you'd think the leaking pipe could be sorted before sale  could be the heater matrix plastic pipes themselves so I certainly wouldn't assume a £10 (if you can get it!) pipe and an hour of Citroen-robics squeezing your hands behind the head will fix it - been there with mine.

It's probably worth the asking price, but it will need to be minter than mint so any paint defects put right and the water leak fixed and I'd still be interested. The comments about flaking paint and the dodgy pics don't help.

Yes - he is being ambitious in charging that for any BX. He's priced me out.

It is very low mileage (assuming it is genuine!) and would probably be worth more to the purists in standard trim, so I suspect the pool of buyers will be no more than a handful.

I'm not seriously interested, in case anyone thinks I am. Half share (and it's in the will to come to me eventually!) in our p1 16v is enough for me with a couple of gas guzzlers to fuel as it is.

It really needs viewing by someone local to see if it's worth what they want and if the description is valid? I suspect an offer of £1500 would buy it as it stands. If that bumper needs painting and water leak isn't going to be fixed anyway.....
