Just been off to buy a 1920s Lathe (100 euros!) and on the 80 mile round trip saw:
BXs x several.
CX x 1
DS x 1
H vans x 2 (suspect on way back from Salbris, may have recognised the vans themselves as UK ones - one high roof yellow, the other white and pale blue assortment)
2CVs x 2
Split screen VW camper x 1
and one Eriba Puck caravan.

Just returned from the Perigord region, as stated above, Stacks of Renault4 and 5s, and 21s.
Some immaculate Pug 405s and lots of tatty 205s.
In our 1500 mile trip, saw about 14 BXs, all in the South.
All but a couple were in use. None were estates.
One was towing a caravan too. More XMs than I expected to see.
At the campsite you could hire a good condition 2CV for 80 Euros a day.

Just staggered in the door after a 2400 mile round trip to the Pyrenees Orientales. The St Tropez did not miss a beat, turned in around 45mpg and completely failed to use any oil, water or LHM. Truly impressive, even though I say so myself.
However, back on thread, I saw 24 BXs. Of these, there were only two estates and one Mk 1 hatch in absolutely mint condition. There were no valvers spotted, but I did see a BX15 and a BX Olympique. Most of these seem to live in the southern half of the country. I'm sure there's a PhD thesis waiting to be written on the reasons why...
There were a goodly number of XMs (surprisingly most were series 1) as well as plenty of 2CVs, all in remarkably excellent nick.
Of the rest, Renault 4s and 5s seem to keep on going while the Pug 305 seems to have virtually disappeared.
Finally, my recommendation for the Wine of the Month is Le Bailli de Notre Dame Gaillac, available from SuperU at a paltry 2.99 euros and an immensely satisfying and robust red.

The only pics are of the St Tropez in various locations, somewhat fly-splattered. When I get round to putting them on to the computer, I will upload the best. As to a St Tropez in St Tropez, that is rather tempting...
This one's a picnic stop on the way home...

Not such a good BX count this trip - three days in and around Perpignan and only clocked one grey Mk 2 hatch bimbling along the N116 in the opposite direction. Still the scenery made up for it.

EDIT - Make that two - Saw another white BX pulling into the car park at the airport.
