Just back from a 1200 mile jaunt in France:

1 BX TZD Turbo, 1 Phase 2 BX 16v and a beaten up old BX of indeterminate type... and that's it. I saw more XMs than BXs.

I crossed France twice in the last month and saw five BXs - two moving under their own power. The real survivor seems to be the Peugeot 205 - there are unbelievable amounts still driving about, I think I must have seen at least fifty!

In my opinion it's the Renault 21 that has survived in huge numbers compared to it's BX contemporary. I saw a delicious 1988/89 21 turbo ABS and a Quadra(?) in the same village.

The further south, and rural you you go, the more BXs you start to see. There are still quite a few knocking about, just not in the north it would seem.

I also think a lot of them have migrated east... When I was in Prague/Czech Republic and Poland a couple of years back I saw loads of BXs, and about three different valvers in one day!

Last foray across the ditch was for four days last February and the BX count totalled five, (all hatchbacks) and all seemed to be roadworthy. I also got a cheery wave and a big grin from a passanger in some anonymous modern saloon who seemed impressed to see a Brit BX in his bit of France. However, I haven't seen a DS or an ID for a long time...

we went to the Vendee in the May half term, had a BX park next to us at the super U, kids were shouting "look another Uncle Buck car", cheeky wotsits ! I also spotted at least 2 more, one passed us on the motorway at a very suprising speed

Still quite a few BXs on the road round here on the Cotentin peninsula - you don't seem many on the motorways but I see quite a few around town and in the villages and back roads.
Just been to town and back and saw a couple, plus three 2CVs and a Mehari. Lots of Meharis around here in fact as we're close to the sea and the Parisians like to keep them at their second homes to head for the beach in the summer.

I took the GS to Salbris for the 2CV world meeting (it's the only road legal & running car in the fleet at the moment) and spotted loads of BX's including:

Cottage
14TE
3 x valvers
2 x sports
2 or 3 other special editions I've not seen before
several others with no model badging evident.

Most of these were out and about being used, and were also quite tidy

I took some pics so I'll get a few posted in the next day or 2.

i've too have just returned from the 2cv world meeting,i hear, unofficialy there were some 8000 "A" series cars, we arrived on friday, and was told site was "full"!! so went in as day visitors, and went to a very nice camp site about 15km away!!
i only saw 2 GSA's at the show,no GS's, let alone a British one! i took my R16 TX,which did go down well especialy with a green R16 and a daulphine were we had a good hooting contest in the local town centre!!
we traveled around a 1000 miles and spotted so many Bx's!! counted 3 within 5 mins, and two were mk1's!!!!! well into high double figures we saw, and a good dozen or so mk1's, but not so many estates, went to a big scrapyard (i needed a streering bush for my mk1) and they had 4 Bx's! sadly, one was an early mk1 in that pastel blue (which gave up her steering gaiter!) and collected several yellow headlamps bulbs!!
other than Bx's, loads of pug 205s,R21's and R25's and safranes, and mk2 R5's are just everywhere! i do think there is going to be a large decline in xantias very soon, seeing many getting very tatty now,

My GS/A count were 2 x GS Estates, 1 GSA estate, 2 GS saloons (including an X3!) and a GSA Hatch - all left hookers. and all at Salbris. My GS Estate was in the field by the exit from the camping area, but as it was tucked at the back by the woods you needed to hunting to see it. You could barely see my Severn Cross, and that was on a 6m pole!

I'm just going to familiarise myself with picture posting and will start a new thread.

Certainly the biggest I've ever been to! The official count on Saturday night was 7034, but how many of the couple of hundred camped on the adjoining building site were included I don't know.

what I couldn't get over was how the whole town had got into the spirit of things - every shop had 2CV pictures and models in the window, and every house seemed to have decorated their gardens
