Under normal circumstances this may be true, but things are different in a Citroën with proper suspension!
Has anyone here had a high speed blow out in a Citroën? I have twice, in 2 separate cars.
The first was at well over 130 mph, in my CX, and the second was at a more sedate 75 mph, in one of my BX's. (in fact, I still have the tyre and rim from the CX)
Both times, there was absolutely no drama at all...just a deep rumbling noise. If however I were in a lesser car, it would have gone out of control!
90mph on front nearside on a DS 23 EFI on a dual carriageway in the UK, about 30 years ago ...only way I knew somthing was wrong was that I could not accelerate past 90mph, and as I slowed to 60mph the vibrations began. By the time I stopped and looked, the tyre was completely shredded. Cheap nylon Bridgstones I bought, or something like that.
90mph on rear offside on a BX on a French Autoroute in snow at about 2am, about 8 years ago. I think it had blebbed (I remember seeing a lot of diesel in that area of the ferry when I got back into the car), I started to get a vibration, which quickly became bad, and then I started to fishtail on the snow, feet off all pedals and let the car slow to about 60mph and started to brake, more fishtail so I slowed all the way to about 20mph and then pulled into the deeper snow in the hard shoulder area.
Good god, I paid £75 for a set of speedline alloys in november 2010...
Maybe I should see about selling them...
I also have a set of the other style of alloy wheel, found on mk1 cars, which are taking up space....
I've had a 90mph blowout on a BX - tyre had been puncture repaired and blew out - taking quarter of the front bumper with it - car went in a straight line down the motorway.
more importantly, I remember a citroen advert where they drive a car with a punctured wheel between two trucks - in a straight line!

I had a front wheel blow out on a truck in the middle lane of the M6 which instantly veared me from one lane to the next unable to see in any of my mirrors because the cab was vibrating so violently from the shredded tyre under my emptied ar-e, how I never hit anything i'll never know but luckily the other traffic all backed off as i blindly drifted over to the hard shoulder and coasted to a stop. This was follwed by a Police rolling road block of the M6 on a Friday afternoon whilst they cleared the debris. No fun I can tell you.
