Just found this thread, hadn't realised that Tim had enlisted support for me via the forum :D

Just wanted to thank Matt and Vanny for their help on Sunday, as a tech novice it's brilliant to know that people will be so generous with their expertise. Matt, I'm sorry that my car decided to cover you in LHM!

It's riding really nicely now - and fear not, I had enough feedback on my diagonal rear wheels to know that rear arm bearings are now my top priority!!

I picked up loads of tech advice on the day, so I might not be as fearful to have a go myself next time......

where are you in the west midlands John? I'm quite sure i have a drivers side arm going spare, though it might well need new bearings thrown in. It's much easier to swap the bearings on a spare then simply swap the arms. Looking at the lean on your arm, i suspect the metal in the arm on which the bearing sits will be badly damaged.

I'm in the Black Country Vanny (Stourbridge) - i'll be getting my local trusted garage to do the work, they're not a citroen specialist but they've done work on my 2CV and the DS I had without too much drama! Is it a fairly straightforward job to change the arm/bearing?

Would definitely be interested in the arm if you still have it.....

I got my jacket all mucky..... :lol:

Never removed a sphere with a split diaphram before, so had forgotten that could happen. I was a little bit concerned as it didn't spin off by hand so was wondering why there appeared to be some pressure in there.

Perhaps the 'I've never known rear spheres crack off so easily' remark tempted my car to prove otherwise!

I've had the last 4 do that. I just assume they all do now!
