The N/S bearing was done in 2004 and seems to be happy. I've just been told its easier to drop the subframe

I generally wrap tape around the end of the new pipe end to keep gunge out and wangle them through the hole where the originals run, slightly crude but it saves dropping the subframe off and I have never needed to bend the new pipe very much at all, do be careful with the other old pipes and unions in the area behind the cross silencer, they will likeley be crumbly too, you will need an 8mm flare nut spanner and it might be a good idea to get under there and liberally spray all of the pipe unions with penetrating oil now to let it soak in whilst you find the parts you need, another trick I use is to heat up the unions using one of those mini blowlamps, mind you I seem to have only done these pipes on diesels so be careful.

It is possible to fit the 4.5mm pipe without dropping the subframe (just) but it's an absolute pig to get it in place without bending hell out of the pipe, if you make a pipe using Kunifer it aint so bad, much more pliable!
I've always found it easier to drop the front of the subframe, dont take long to do and makes the job soooo much easier...
