After being up on axle stands all week, the car is now back on it's feet.

I fitted the new rear wheel bearing along with new rear discs and pads then decided to refit the wheels and lower it down to the ground, on building up the pressure in the suspension system one of the HP lines to the rear height corrector decided to blow

I'd noticed that some of the rear pipes had been replaced but not routed correctly, many of them had been left touching each other and this one had chaffed through. So I cut out the damaged section of this and one other and all is now well. I also replaced the exhaust intermediate and tail pipe as they both looked a bit dodgy. Would have passed mot but I didn't fancy changing them in the middle of winter.

So she's about ready for the MOT now, just the lights to check and fit new wiper blades, hopefully get it booked in next week sometime and now she's been cleaned up and polished I can feel another photo coming on :D

Just been up to my lock-up in it to dump some of the scrap metal that came off this car.

It now seems like a totally different car compared to the last time I drove it. No knocks, no rattles and the speedo is so steady I didn't think it was working at first.

Work permitting I'll see if I can get it booked in for MOT tomorrow.

Well it's been a few miles down the M1 today, it still has one or two minor issues that I can attend to in the next few days, the starter motor seems a bit tired and the exhaust might need lifting a bit, but other than that it performed well, and even the MOT man liked it. :D

He liked it so much he gave me a piece of paper valid for the next 12 months. \:D/

So now it’s MOT’d here’s a run down on what it needed and cost.

Initial purchase of car. £ 60.00p

5 Ltr 10-40 Total semi syn engine oil. £ 8.81p
1 Purflux Oil filter. £ 2.94p
4 Ltr LHM plus. £2.70p @ £ 10.80p
1 Gates Timing belt. £ 11.63p
1 LHM Pump belt. £ 2.35p
1 Amtex Accumulator sphere . £ 17.62p
1 Upper speedo cable. £ 9.99p
1 Lower speedo cable. £ 10.46p
1 Rear wheel bearing. £ 36.43p
2 Bendix Rear brake discs. £12.93p @ £ 25.86p
1 Set Bendix rear brake pads. £ 11.16p
1 Valeo 20" wiper blade. £ 2.50p

£210.55p

MOT test fee. £ 40.00p

Items used from stock.

2 Hand brake cables.
1 Antiroll bar link.
2 Front tyres.
1 Alternator belt.
1 Door mirror.
1 Serviceable rear radius arm.
1 Intermediate exhaust pipe.
1 Estate tail pipe.
Numerous dashboard lamps.
1 Mini disc player.
Lots of patience.

Total cost inclusive. £250.55p

So was it worth it?

£250 for a really nice L reg diesel estate with 12 months MOT. I think so.

I'd also like say "Mission accomplished" but in reality the mission is just about to being. Using this car as a daily drive for my work and to get a years running out of it without major expense or work. We'll see.
