Do it yourself you lazy sod! It's only a spanner and a bit of oil...........why rely on 'volunteers'....presumambly giving up their own free time

Ken Sorry to Hijack this thready but im sick of this.
" Im a Lazy sod"

, Bandit? What is your problem with me and where do you get that Idea from, I do a 55 hour working week which includes weekends, on top of that I have 5 cars (my choice I know) and a house to maintain, plus the usual household chores!, being a single guy I have to do all my own cooking, cleaning etc and as for relying on volunteers? tell me who's that then?
I dont deny Ken has done work for me on one of my cars before yes a couple of years ago,for which I still have the receipt for as was more than happt to pay him what he asked for, the same as when Ian did a few small jobs, I paid him for this is form of a free MOT or two and some parts for his VW's, most recently and as we all know Doc and Vanny very graciously fixed my ailing 16v at the CCC show, on completion I offered both them some financial compensation for giving up there time to help me out, both of which refused, again guys, thank you!.
I get really PI**ED off with the assumption that i am after "something for NOTHING", that individuals think my purpose here is just to make a quick buck and take advantage of peoples good nature maybe because I happen to be a car salesman?, and that ideology fits within the age old public perception of my profession so I must be guilty of it.
Ive bitten my tongue before but I am sick of it, as Ken pointed out I save bx's that are heading for the scrap yard and or that nobody else wants, I do this purely for the fun, certainly not profit as there isnt any, normally quite the opposite, neither for a pat on the back by the club or to gain brownie points as it doesnt. I am happy to travel all over the country on trains/arrange lifts and even borrow car trailers at some considerable expense to fetch them, yet if I ask for help or parts which I am more than happy to PAY for I get lambasted by people for it!
Where I work will only do a few small jobs for me, they do this purely out of good will as im good mates with the service manager, they WILL NOT take on big staff car jobs purely because the mechanics are neither trained nor want to to the work in the first place. More likely than not they are always booked weeks in advance with services etc on cars they know and like.
Please bear in mind they, like most main dealers charge £75+VAT a hour retail yet only £30 for STAFF, so can potentially loose £45 for every hour working on cars they dont really want to work on in the first place, hence why I am having to teach myself what bits I can so to continue doing what I enjoy, however my skills are not up-to repiping as yet, and I dont know if they ever will, I dont have the tools, space, ramps etc to do it safetly, just the same as mulley doesnt for his arm bearings, please accept that not all of us are spanner wielding magicians and we know our limits, when you surpass those accidents happen.
So Mr Bandit in my situation what would you do? scrap it? sell it off on ebay for next to nowt to be a yet another 205 "donor"?, maybe pay a local citroen dealer or if you can find one a specialist perhaps (there is no-one locally that I know of) hundreds of pounds that I just dont have? or should I entrust it to "under the arches bodge motors" who are cheap and local but will probably do more harm than good!.
The only feasbale answer is give the work to someone in the club who knows what they are doing, but I stress ONLY IF THEY WANT TO DO IT!, that way its done properly, and someone has a few extra quid in there pocket, be it by trailer if the car is not deemed roadworthy or if it does scrape through the MOT, make its first outing to whomever to get the pipes and whatever it needs to make it safe and driveable?
I welcome anyones suggestions on this as I see no other options.
