TZD turbos don't half go, was well impressed with the first one I had and it would crack 105mph easily and got to an indicated 112mph without too much agro.
The 1.9TD converted estate was still my favourite though, that thing was stupidly quick.

I've been over 100 a few times, I only do it when the fast lane is moving at that speed so I can't be picked out  I wouldn't recommend it with the little 13'' wheels I have though, doesn't seem safe to me.

I agree with the gearing comments, the XUD could go faster with a 6th or "cruise" gear, not to mention the engine would be happier on the motorway, over long distances. One thing I have noticed is the difference between the ZX and 306 gearboxes. The ZX has longer gears, which are better suited for the car and the engine. The 306 has pathetically short gears, and runs out of power at about 70mph! I don't see why they didn't use the ZX gear box ... confuses me.

MULLEY wrote:Kitch, before my tzd was off the road i wound it upto 115, infact it would have gone faster but was starting to go into the red, could do with a 6spd gearbox.

Even my txd can go 105+, again it seems to run out of gearing rather than engine puff.

A Lambo will do those speeds in 2nd gear mate, in 6th it's probably their most economical cruising speed.

56mph in a Lambo just isn't feasable

Anyway, if any sports car driver sees the immortal words "TZD Turbo" on the back of a BX, they're definately not going to try and overtake, just in case the driver unleashes the full 88bhp and 134lb ft on them and makes them look silly halfway through the manouvre

I just got in from a real hair-raiser!!! Took just my Xsara TD up for a top up of racing diesel fuel. It's cold, and roads are a bit greasy, and the poor tyres up front had it all to do trying to reign in 92bhp rampaging French stallions at dizzy speeds of at least 55mph.

Did anyone feel the world move an hour or so ago? Don't worry, I floored my Xsara TD and unleashed 148lb ft on the earth's rotational pull.

And not even a 16v BX can do that can it? (Or am I blurred in my recollection)

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Ah sorry bud, you must have spilt the beer when the world jolted.

Apparently I've actually thrown out the time of year to time of day calibration. I've made it get lighter 1hr earlier and get dark 1hr later, due to spinning the world a bit with my over-eager power delivery.

Phil: Yes, the BX 16v can't even get near that having only 133lb ft. So as we all know, it's got even less torque than a BX TD.

Course it's delivering 160bhp when it's delivering the 133lbft, which kinda makes the difference

Nope their not fast compared to 100+k machinery, but not bad for £400 & £260 respectively. I'd rather have an Ultima than a lambo, fastest car in the world 0-100-0, under 10seconds....

There are cars that do 0-60 in about 3 seconds, 0-100 should only take 6 at most ...

To be honest, I wouldn't own a BX because I think it is fast... I just like the whole experience. There are quicker cars out there than BX TDs and 16vs... to be had for less money as well.

This aint a bad example... for less than £200 all in, including the transportation :)

Nah, thats when it hits a wall!

Of course there are faster cars, but find another car that fast, for that cheap, thats as comfortable to drive and ride in, and is as practical.
Oh, and of course people dont tend to think "oh, another knob in a scooby" when they see a BX..
