A quick update !!

Well since ownership, yes it does have it's problems !!! :(

Today i checked the oil ,   , like mayonaise !!!
Sooo along with a possible head gasket, new front bushes and rear arm bearings to be done by Malcom !!, 'n' yes he does know :D and a major bit of welding to be done to the rear, also malcom !, i love it, but it seems that this Bx will be sorn for a while until all work is complete, but i will need another car quickly, so hunting that diesel Xm is now on the cards, the Bx will stay with me for what it cost me, and re-comission it in the new year as the tax runs out at the end of Nov,

well off to spend some more money on a repalcement !!!

Mayonnaise in the oil filler cap is not unusual with a BX. Condensation in cold weather (like we're experiencing now) will combine with oil vapour at the top of the filler tube to produce copious amounts of creamy gunk. Make sure it doesn't clog the breather pipes.

HG failure will more likely be indicated by oil in the coolant and pressurisation of the cooling system I believe.

Hi all !

Been a while since i was on here,

Thanks Phil you could be right , since fearing the worst, it may not be all that bad, , after all .

I do still have the old girl , and will not get rid of her, i was going to sell it but it has been sitting on my drive since the later part of November, had to buy a replacement fro it! and yes i did stick to french, now got a 53 plate Scenic 1.8 Privelage +, now back to the old girl, she hasn't been started since she was laid up ,( been to busy ) , but on Thursday i decided to clear out the breather pipes , dip the oil, and see if the old girl would fire up.

After a little turning over she fired up :D and ticked over no problem, suspension did what it suposed to do , and i left it running for ( no Joke ) 2 hrs on tick over while i was busy trying to clear out my garage to get her in!! and seemed to be fine, cooling fan came on and off as it should, but no signs of any problems , no amber or red lights on the temp gauge!..
Not bad hey.... concidering it was buried in snow for some time, but she is now a spring project, and will be back on the road then , she is still Mot'd till June 11, but as Malcolm is aware there is some whelding needs doing, so will get that done.

And hopefully see soon of you at Little Horwood this year.
