Newbie with TGS Athena
Hi all.
A few of you on here will know me from the Xm forum, but just purchased the above BX ..
1991 TGS Athena, 99k, really quite good nice example for a bargin price, purchased from Fleabay .
It's got a full main dealer service history up to 87k ( cambelt changed ), spotless interior, i guess it suffers from a bit of rust in the door shuts , btu nowt major, apart from those areas, its rust free !!!
Need to pick some brains though !
There is rather a violent knocking coming from the front, could this be the susspension bushes ???, this is the first BX iv'e had so not sure what to look for ! sound like the front is gunna fall off when going over a slightly bumpy bit of road !, iv'e got to change the rear spheres as she is a little to bouncy , front is lovely and soft.
Going to give it the once over tomoz, so will post some pics of her when the rain stops,
I still have the two barn finds to save, 1 is a MK 1 & the other a MK2 , pics of these cars have been posted on here before, so you may all be familiar with those !!!
Any way any advice on what i should be looking for on the susspension side ???
Thank for any advice
Nigel

Hi Nigel,
Welcome to the forum, a MK1, interesting, normally its ball joints or drop links fail on a BX so cheap and easy to fix, they do make a right racket though!
I saw the Athena on ebay, looks a good purchase and they are a nice model to own and quite plush inside.

so sue is actually a Mick then? well with a name like that I guess it was obvious right?
The Athena was a limited edition made for about 12 months and available as one model in two colours so yes they are rare and a nice car to have, dont know of any others in the club at the moment, I had one, same colour in 2006 which I sold to Ben in london.

It's really quite plush inside, it was covered in dog hairs inside when i picked it up, but has come up superbly, not rips or signs of ware, not even on the driving seat, just one small fag burn on the drivers door card ,
I would like to get some rear headrests for it , if i can find some in dark navey blue.
Even the sunroof fully works
its got a few rusty area's on the bottom of the door pillers ,b ut not to bad i don't think.
Will give it a good clean , and post some pics

Morning !! Mick
The XM is very sadly sold, to make way for a deisel one , when i can find the right one , and of course the right price !
As you know the two BX's are still in the barn, i only purchsed this one on the spur of the moment, MOT'd till next June & Taxed, £300.00, cheap car i thought with a full citroen servive history, up to 87k, Maria's doing her nut !!
So where is Julie's car going to then ??
The GTI did sound like it was a bit of a bargin, glad its all going well !!
As for coming up , yes would love to, and of course in the BX , that will; make her in doors feel a bit
,il'l speak to her later n keep you posted, good a couple of day off now, sooo BX ing for a few days

The athena interior fabric is bespoke to that model so finding rear headrests will be very hard as they were dealer fit accessories only, unless someone breaks one and you cut down the fronts? The seats are actually GTi ones and with that velour is very hard wearing and looks very smart. You could use some TZD/GTi front headrests (again cut down) which are similar fabric but dark grey in colour.
Look forward to seeing some better pictures when you can!
Worth looking at the rear exhaust hanger mounting, from memory looking at the pics on ebay it seemed to be a bit "limp"
