Anyone know who this is? Friendly chap acknowledging my lookalike green BX estate and waving as we drove side by side at one point. It wasn't Tim in his Green Hornet, this chap was somewhat older

We've all moaned about the DVLA's "data quality" - myself more than most - but a few stats make me a little more sympathetic. There are something like 50 million cars in the UK - a percentage will have mistakes in their records, and even 1% of that means a lot of mistakes.
Especially when you consider that a lot of that system depends on clerks in busy Post Offices filing everything correctly and sending it off by post...
2) Then select the Road Sign on the left hand column 'VEHICLE ENQUIRY'
3) Then 'NEXT' (On the right hand side of the page).
4) Then Enter the Vehicle Registration Mark and the Vehicle Make on the pull down TAB and hit the NEXT button !
VOILA there you have it

Whilst I was putting the DVLA car registration search link/instructions together.
You beat me to it pointing that out ! That liability was in 2008 (That's why it states UNLICENSED) !
But it may have been off the road on SORN and just been taxed and put back on the road and the data base has not been updated yet or the owner may have been driving to/from a pre-arranged MOT which you ARE permitted to do so (As you need that prior to getting the road tax, but you still need to be insured of course)
Well legalities aside I guess the driver is not a BXclub member or he would have been online enquiring about me too
