BX.Advice on petrol/diesel

Post by classicnut5 »

Can anyone give me advice on top of the range BXs please?I would like to purchase another BX to replace my TXD.I have been looking for a TZD as this is a superior spec to mine and I presume top of the range? What is the top of the range 1.4 petrol and how do they compare to a 1.7 TD?Economy and performance please?I know they would be cheaper to tax but are they gutless being a small engine?I am not belittling the 1.4 as I know nowt about them.
Also does anyone live in the Surbiton,Surrey Area who could check out a TZD at SB Autos for me?I can only go off what the Garage owner tells me overt phone and 214 miles is a long way to travel on that sort of info.
Cheers

Do you mean this one? Click Here

Me and Boxwolf have seen it, and unless you're very handy and can fix it up yourself it's not worth anything more than £3-400 - it's not a good example of a TZD; many issues, although admittedly some are easy fixes.

My advice would be to avoid this particular car ... but I would say you should try and go for a diesel.

Yeah I wouldnt buy that BX, not worth the money considering the problems and the garage owner is an outright liar.

Can't see a reason to get worked up about this as postcode usually relates to several houses, not one (unless you live in a country 'pile' ). :?

Anyway if he gets junk mail addressed to 'Tourist' he can 'file it' straight in the bin!

A postcode usually relates to less than a dozen houses... not really the kind of information you want to share online.

I've been on other forums where a member who annoyed other more net-savvy members found his address, phone number and pictures of his mother posted in the thread. Best to keep as anonymous as possible in these sorts of places...

The only reason I use my full name on here is that it's the first forum I ever joined, and I was still in the Fidonet mindset which said it was Bad Manners to use a pseudoym. If I joined today I would not use my full name (and I don't, anywhere else).

I have just sold a 14 TGE, my first petrol BX. I liked it far more than I thought it would. It was quite different to the 19D's I have had in the past but had some definite advantages. It was surprisingly "perky" and fun to drive; it felt much smaller than the D's and quite a bit more nimble. It was reasonably economical (usually around 33-36 mpg around town and 44 personal best on a run). The manual steering was quite heavy at parking speeds but much lighter than my girlfriends Polo. The steering felt good when on the move though. Overall, I prefer my diesel but miss the quietness and fun of the TGE.

We're agreed but if people want postcodes they can get them by the bucketload by referring to the electoral rolls and can even buy the shortened electoral register where the councils are not even interested what purpose they are wanted for. Full names, addresses, and other info to go with the postcodes too.

Well, I don't think the type of member here is like that but I stand to be corrected.

Have you had a problem here using your own name? Although as it has become customary to use screen-names that does lend a bit of 'colour' to the site.

Way2go, you and I are in agreement on the calibre of members here - I've never had a problem from any of the posters on this forum and I never expect to!

But it's important to remember that you don't have to be a member to read the messages on here - everything we say is very much in the public domain.

Yes that is something we have to bear always in the backs of our mind. :(

It was better in the earlier days of this forum before the 'Pond' was 'drained' as that was a safe "member only" area and posts on anything could be made which was searcheable as an archive. People often used to start a thread in the open areas then suggest a move to the Pond for safer chat. :D

Unfortunately the 'Anything Else' is a poor replacement as posts made there cannot be referred to later as they shortly disappear into a 'black hole'. The 'Pond' was popular and a vibrant area but the 'Anything Else' is rarely used now because of it's severe limitation. :(

Kind of ffels like thred hijacking to me But also a very obscure place to say this kind of thing without beiing so easy to track down. :?

My own experiances with the internet is you have some real utters/tosspots out there who are cowardly enough to pounce on your words and use them in some back stabbing anonomous fashion, so yes not giving out to mauch true information is a must.

If I post a picture of my car its going to have the number plate obscurred simply because NZ is probably more lax than the UK for finding out owner details. Shot tap the number on a website or go and pay couple bucks somewhere that deals with them and you dont even have to go through "official" Police Channels for less than the price gallon petrol.

Even if I know your real names I think its common courtesy not to reply in the Open Public Forums to those names but to the username. Unfortuanately some people are stupid enough not to do that and it does cause problems! You point it out to them and the reply is generally "oh dont take it so serious its just harmless fun on the internet"

Oh really then please explain to me how in reality people are aware of whats said on the internet and use it against you? Worse when you live in a small area or it becomes part of a bigger event.
