I have just spent five days in SW France (an hour or so North of Bordeaux near Montpon). I visit regularly and usually see a few interesting cars but for some reason, this time I saw hundreds of BX's (well, probably between 40 and 60). Most were well used but some were immaculate. A few were MK1's and almost all were hatchbacks. Most were driven by older men and most were diesel. Lots of 2CV's (most very smart), lots of Acadiane's/Ak400's, several Visa''s and some CX's. I saw a couple of great looking R16's as well.
It always shocks me to see the different attitude to older cars in France when compared to here in the UK; when I was in France, I visited a few new cars dealerships (looking for a van with my dad) and saw 2CV's, BX's, CX's and GSA's being serviced/retailed at main dealerships. Prices seemed very healthy too (very worn Pug 504 truck for 2000 euros, 5 year old Jumpy (Citroen Dispatch) 1.9D with some dents etc for 12000 euros). The number of C15's in rural France never fails to shock me either and the sight of a C15 fire engine flying through Bergerac town centre yesterday will live with me for a while (looked like a scene from a GTA type computer game!!).
Thanks!
