Post by Matt C. »

Hello to everyone at the BXClub.

I am a motor trader from Bucks. and have joined your club looking to sell a car.

We have just taken in p-ex a 1 owner from new BX GTI Hurricane. Reg.16.03.93 and only 63836 miles. 13 Citroen stamps in the service book. The car is in black and is in very good condition. To be critical both bumpers would need painting where they have crazed. Both sides of the windscreen have a small rust spot where the screen has been changed.

The interior is in fantastic condition and looks like that of a two year old car.

The alloys are in good condition but have some areas where the surface is starting to bubble.

The road tax runs till Feb 2010, there are 3 virtually new tyres and the 4th is only about 40% worn.

I drove the car on a brief test drive and can confirm that it performs as it should (although i am no expert on these). There is a Citroen specialist on our site and he has checked the suspension and confirmed that it does everything it should.

There is also half a tank of fuel.

I gave far too much for this car in the heat of battle but it must go as we need the space.

Thank you for your time and if anyone is interested in giving this car a new home or would like to know more please contact me.

Regards to all BXClubbers

Some pics to get the juices flowing would be nice if possible. I thought Hurricanes only came in green? A GTi Hurricane, with 148,000 less on the clock than my GTi?

This could be someone's dream... Black... mmm. Nice. 8)

Same as an 'normal' 8v GTi, but has a pseudo Ph.2 16v bodykit. It (I thought) was green and had distinctive green/grey patterned upholstery and green tinted glass. Some say the Hurricane is more prone to rust on acoount of the body shells having been sat in open storage for a while before being used up. I haven't heard or seen proof of this however.

Phil im pretty sure the hurricane was only available in triton green so this could be a clone or maybe a one off.

Does anyone have a hurricane brochure?

I like the 8v GTi. Enough go to still have a bit of fun, but docile enough to potter about in day-to-day. Cheap to insure too.

I've seen an 'Ourane' in gold in France.

The gold 'Ourane' above looked an absolute beauty. Tom and I saw it about 18 months ago in a French supermarket car park, but the owner was nowhere to be seen and we had somewhere else to go.

On the other hand a diesel Hurricane (green) that Bernie bought for spares near here, and that I went to see beforehand, was possibly the rustiest BX I've ever seen. Think I still have the pics of the rustholes on photobucket (will check). I described it with the pic links in this part of the forum (though might've dropped off by now).

It had been used in a very rural area though, which was also just off the A3 into London, so dual-carriageway grit and the like could've been "sealed-in" by rural mud. On that car the C-pillars inside the door-shuts were extremely bad.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

I have spoken with the dealer today regarding the BX for sale : One owner car with full Citroen service history - The log book states BX GTI Hurricane and the car is definately Black, trade in price £1295 !!!!!!!!! & looking for similar amount . Immaculate inside apparently and little evidence of rust, both bumbers require repainting as does alloys ....... requested photos be added to forum which he stated he will do in due course.

Unless I've missed something and the credit crunch is over, and the BX is now a confirmed design icon (OK it is already! ), IMO this is too high a price. £700 tops (especially as it needs cosmetic work)... If it came with a one year dealer warranty maybe a tad more?

£500 tops IMHO.
And I'd want to look at the car first.
There was NEVER a black Hurricane.
So either it's been resprayed, or it aint a Hurricane.
There were two yellow Hurricanes, and some were gold as DLM points but, but not in the UK.
ALL UK Hurricanes were Triton green.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

There were some black Hurricanes - but with metal-skin-and fabric over tubular-steel-frame bodywork, a carb-fed RR Merlin V12 and a pair of metal wings, 3 wheels in total (not alloys) and a rather wider track. Used as night fighters. Might even have had a hand-crank for the hydraulics.

Fairly fast for the time in a straight line and corners well (off-ground). NOT one to take to the Citroen dealer for a service....

One of those for the price would be a stonking deal!
