It does seem a bit strange ( like that 'moody' Hurricane GTI in The For Sale area) - what would be stranger if it actually did have - for some reason - a 16v engine in there.
Perhaps those Smithkline Beecham drug dealers ( as Tom pointed out! ) needed a getaway car after they'd offloaded a load of hooky drugs! Certainly looks the part in black

I've got a nice OE 16v/GTi four(?three?) spoke here.... it's destined for the BXagon Boot Sale.Way2go wrote:Curiously that's the wrong steering wheel for a GTi of that vintage too!Lester wrote:Definitely not a 16v as ............wrong steering wheel...

It's an 8V, the owner assumed it was a 16v!
I'm seriousley seriousley tempted to have a stab at this.
That said i shant bid against Frugg, as I rather suspect his pockets are deeper than mine would be for a car that doesn't fit the bill of what I actually need.
But, I do have an autobox from a 8v GTi in stock, so I could make it an auto, then it rather fits the bill superbly.

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
