Hello
Just saying hello. I'm a car nut. I've had a 2cv and a dyane about 15 years ago and always fancied a CX - but never looked very hard instead dabbling with land rovers and W123! Now I'm thinking a diesel BX estate would be a good run about. Mechanical/Electrical work is okay but bodywork I try & avoid! Are there any good 'what to look for' guides on the BX i.e. showing wehre the rust points to watch are located? Other than that, if you know of a BX estate needing a good home then let me know please. Steve

Hi, welcome. Essex, eh? Same here.
There are two or three estates on offer (one's to take away FOC I think) in the Sale/Wanted section. One's a TD.
Usual points to watch out for have been repeated a lot on here... Time for a sticky maybe admin?
Look out for rust on inner front wings, boot floor, A pillars, front door hinges, sills, forward end of rear arches in door shut area. Front subframe mounts, rear exhaust hanger/box section. The corners of the panel between the two bulkheads in front of the windscreen - under the washer bottles. No sunroof on an estate unless it's a rarely fitted option or after market one, so not so many issues there.
Oh and the inner rear wings - in particular the n/s seem to suffer too.
The list of what to look for is getting longer as the cars age of course. So be thorough. BUT there WILL be rust. Unless you are extraorinarily lucky.
Best of luck in your search.
