Lexia Diagnostic Sessions for Club Members

Post by CitroXim »

If anyone desires a Lexia Diagnostic Session on their vehicle, have a look at this thread on the FCF for people offering this service to club members.

I'm not sure how valuable a Lexia is on a BX but certainly on the later cars, they are very nearly essential.

It's an electrical diagnostic thingy. Cost's a fortune... like 1000 Euros. There's another one called Proxia.

Oh, is it just like a fancy version of a handheld code reader device? Does the bx have a port for connecting?

a diesel one doesn't!

I have access to Lexia, Proxia, and,er, that little old handheld thing that I cant remember the name of..

Although when I read Jim's thread title I had an immediate image of a dude in a boiler suit shoving the J1912 adaptor up BXClub members arses!

I have no idea why.
I really must be disturbed in the head.

When I took my Ulysse/Synergie/806 2.0 petrol to get serviced the guy used a hand-held Citroen-logo'd device plugged into a scart-like socket under the dash. Now, given (assumed) it's essentially the same engine as the 1.9 8v in the BX GTi, would that imply there's a diagnostic plug in the BX?

What is that hand-held thingy called?

The electron9ics on the BX are much simpler than modern shit.
There is a diagnostic socket, but it's a two pin job, very old world.
The handheld jobby has an adaptor for said two pin unit, which I still cant remember the name of!

What you lot need is a Sauriau unit! Its the fore runner to the Lexia/Proxia, and covers all Citroens from the 70's to the 90's (1996 in fact) this includes all makes and models from the 2CV to the XM! And i kid you not there are instructions for hooking it up to the 2CV and running automated testing. The unit i have also covers emissions and has a printer.

It takes up too much room for me these days, so if someone wants it they are welcome to it!

The port you refer to Phil is a standard on all cars since i think 2001, it is an On Board Diagnostic port 2nd Revision (or OBD2 as it is known in the industry). Thing is that there are 3 different standards for communications (although the port is the same). These days the port connects straight to the onboard network and so you can 'talk' to every single piece of hard ware on the car, not just the fault diagnosis, but recalibration and new software!

This may be a bit mad but on my emina i just stick a paperclip between the pins and count the number of times the indicator lights on the dash flash (eg 14 = fault code 14, 3 then a pause then 7 = fault codes 3 & 7), I then look up the fault code on a handy list someone has posted on the forum I am a member of for that car.

So........ can you do something similar with the bx????
