16v Battery bracket wanted

Post by toddao »

Anyone got one of these lying around please before I have to fabricate one? It's the bit that bolts down and holds the battery in place. I don't know if it was exclusive to the 16v but I've taken other ones off various BXs and they don't go.

Cheers
Todd

Thanks for replies fellas. The battery trays in both my diesels are flat with a lip under which the bracket hooks. The tray in my 16v has a 45 degree slope on its edge which seems to require a dedicated bracket. I've taken various brackets from scrapper BXs which don't fit.
If you find anything Vanny that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Todd

For what it's worth I have the 45 degree angle on mine too - I wonder if that's a difference on the Mk 1s?

Is this the first ever in-depth study of BX battery trays? :D Yes, it could be a Mk.1 thing!

I've investigated this further today - the fascinating world of battery trays. The TRD has a flat plastic tray and the RD has one not too disimilar to the 16v.

I thought that perhaps the battery was the problem as, though it's a Citroen item, it's specified for a CXGTI or an XM - would this make any difference as to width re fitting? Anyway, the battery is cactus so I've got a get a new one. Then I'll know whether any of the brackets I've got are suitable.
