What do 195/60 tyres weigh?

Does anyone know what a 195/60 tyre without wheel would weigh? It's very hard to find out such info but I need to determine what the weight of four tyres for the 16v would be for courier purposes.
My thinking is that each one must be approx 6/7 KG. The courier offers a special service if four tyres have a combined weight of 31 KG and can be fitted in a box 120cmx50x50. The box is possible but the weight needs to be verified before I commit to the deal.
If anyone knows the answer to the strange question ( or has got a tyre and scales to hand), that's much appreciated!

Absolutely no idea, have you got some bathroom scales at home? If so, why dont you try if you have a spare tyre lying around or can borrow one & weigh yourself with & without it. The manufacturer of said tyre may know the answer.

I'm buying some part worn tyres and the dealer is a bit dense - won't weigh them. They're cheap but the difference in his postage costs and the deal that I've arranged is considerable.
C'mon, it's Saturday night, how can anyone have anything better to do than weigh tyres?

All above answers to questions are right!

The Tyre can weigh a kilo or more differance with being artial used and the brand/make/compound used in the tyre.

Multiply that by 4 and that gives a wide veriance in weights....sorry.

I do some work for a courier company and thats the experiance I have had with the manifest and tyres. The fact you have a dense supplier compounds the problem.

Some great answers there! This ridiculous situation has now passed and I didn't have to get out my calculator and work out how much weight of rubber I should subtract considering the tyres were down to 7mm. So, no tyres in a box this week!

( when I do get hold of some I'll weigh one of them just to add to the sum of human knowledge)

One more thing : what would weigh more - winter or summer tyres?

Depends if they have Nitrogen in them or not

Ahhh, not the old nitrogen story again!!!

If we're splitting hairs here, I reckon winter tyres would be lighter. Wider spaced tread pattern therefore less rubber...all other variables (lots!) being the same of course.

Tread depth on my winter tyres was more than on my other tyres, so it could even possibly make them heavier??

Yep its true

Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide

which reminds me of an air bottle taken up 2000m in altitude its gauge registered higher due to the altitude! So that would mean if you inflated tyres at that altitude they would be flat (underinflated) when you went back down to sea level

French Alps for a holiday then to test that?

You could always buy some inner tubes at the same time, and have them filled with helium...
