Too much work? Anyway, a 16v after a n/a diesel will be a revelation.

Whilst looking for the BX car link above I also came across this BUT the advertiser had got his BX 'Citroën' listed as 'Citreon'

Says 'beyond econimcal repair' but that's probably subject to opinion. The garage may have told him that or he might not be able to do the work himself but probably worth asking the seller exactly what jobs it needs.

TO SAVE ME ANSWERING THE SAME QUESTION OVER AND OVER THE CAR FAILED THE MOT ON THE FOLLOWING:

BOTH FRONT STRUT TOP SUSPENSION MOUNTS CORRODED - replace complete struts or strut tops

NEARSIDE HEADLIGHT LOOSE - Not difficult, surely!

OFFSIDE FRONT CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT GAITER SPLIT - ditto

FUEL TANK LEAKING THE LEAK IS UNDER THE REAR SEAT AND APPEARS TO BE JUST THE SEAL, I THINK THE TANK HAD BEEN OVERFILLED - peculiar, possibly the rubber connecting pipes perishing (have seen this)

OFFSIDE FRONT FLUID SUSPENSION PIPE LOOSE -strut return?

OFFSIDE FRONT SUSPENSION SPHERE LEAKING - O-ring if not knackered sphere.

ADVISORY NOTICES AS FOLLOWS

NEAR SIDE A POST CORRODED BY TOP DOOR HINGE DOOR IS SECURE AT THE MOMENT

SPARE TYRE FLAT!!!

OIL LEAK DON'T KNOW WHERE FROM

FUEL PIPES CORRODED

NSF TYRE WORN ON EDGES

FRONT SUSPENSION WISHBONE MOUNTING BUSHES DETERIORATING

CAR WAS IN DAILY USE UNTIL MOT FAILURE

ENGINE IS GOOD, BODY WORK IS OK FOR YEAR CAR IS SPARES OR RESTORATION PROJECT!!

It's a scrapper then!
Strut top mounts are painfully expensive and hard to get now.

I've got some spare one's in my garage if anyone is thinking of taking this one on to save it, gratis of course & you'll have to take them off the struts.
