Proudest BX Moments

Post by roody262 »

Share some of the moments when your BX really has done you proud. I'll start off with:

1 - The BX 19 RD estate getting me to Devon and back, gettin 54 MPG with no problems (the exhasut fell off soon after but we wont talk about that)

2 - The BX 17 TZD (hurricane) fending off hatchback harry in his ford fiesta this evening

Now lets hear some of yours, I would imagine some of you have for more than I do!

• Discovering that my BX (it was the first GTi auto I had) had a phenomenal load space for a car it's size by taking a wooden playhouse and its contents that had defeated the efforts of it's Passat owner to deliver it in their car.

• Doing a 330 mile round trip at an average of 67 mph without the car breaking into a sweat.
• 1992 Citroen BX TZD Turbo Hurricane
• 2006 Xsara Picasso 1.6 16v

Getting form Chester to Great Yarmouth in a fully loaded BX 1.7 n/a diesel in less than £13's worth of diesel.

Overtaking and seriously pissing off loads of flash cars in the 1.9TD converted estate.

Doing a boy racer in a Corsa off at the lights (I handed him his arse on a plate big time) in a 1.9 n/a diesel estate.

Running on 100% vege oil in the winter.

Leaking copious amounts of LHM all over the newly tarmac laid car park which REALLY pissed my neighbours off.
Vauxhall apologist.

Driving 2000 miles round France a couple of years ago, in the middle of a heat wave (we saw an indicated temperature of 36°C in the evening, and a Bic biro left on the dash in full sun one afternoon softened and distorted!). No trace of overheating, and the airconditioning fitted a few weeks before kept us cool.

Fitting in a a settee, fridge freezer, microwave, computer/monitor, coffee table and bedside table, air bed, pillows, duvet, bags of clothes and two people when we were moving house.

Every time I drive past a modern car that has broken down...

Driving over 3300miles to the ICCCR in Italy and back fully loaded with 3 of us,all the camping gear and a roofbox too. Great rally and fab holiday. All that and with 270k on the clock at the time.Who said a BX is unreliable. Averaged 50mpg too!! Still my daily driver.Just fitted a second set of tyres, first set did over 29,000miles,and not worn out.1.8mm on the front and 2.3mm on the rears. Only changed them all as the car started to go sideways a bit round the roundabouts in the wet (should slow down really!!!)Pics of the rally posted on my facebook site if anyone wants a look.Geoff Rothon!!

See my posting "Is this a record?" - I was pretty proud of this, mainly because I had to be at work for 9am the next morning!
(and as stated - Daisy was much lively than I was)

The estate has too many to mention.

The valver's mainly all revolve around speed, because that's all it really does.
Best moments:

Hanging off the arse of a Scooby

Hanging off the arse of a Golf R32

Hanging off the arse of an Elise

Making an E36 325i look silly at a set of lights.

Oh actually, there was one non-speed related thing. Got back from Hull to Southampton with a fairly steady LHM leak one sunday afternoon. Made more impressive by the fact it was at 120mph + for at least 30mins non-stop (trying to beat the leak!)

Oh hang on, thats speed again

Sorry Paul....it looks as if your Grandad's old BX died back in 2002 :(

Either that, or it was taken off the road and hasn't returned in 7 years!
