Another low miler

Post by Philip Chidlow »

And guess what - it's a 16 - again!

Got to be worth considering. Lack of economy offset by low initial price and good condition maybe?

Good colour. Note Tailblazer. 8)

Tailblazer 100% complete  without any bits missing from the top edge :!:
Unusual to have had the passenger seat swapped out to a TR/TZ :?:
There must be a bit of a story/reason for that, but as you stated nice colour and low mileage, has had 3 previous owners + current owner.
Therefore it's worth checking out any old service history records and old MOT's by calling/asking the seller first !
If it's verified with all that in place it should be fairly easy to pick good second hand passenger seat and get it back to the correct spec. and would make a very nice BX.

Texted the lady and there is fsh and it's registered to her too. Reserve is over £500 though....

Not for me at that price - I'm still looking for a nice diesel anyway.

Over £500 for a low miles car with excellent provenance in very good order isn't excessive. BX values are on the rise. Slowly but surely.

Over £500 for any BX 16 strikes me as excessive.

I wouldn't pay that even for a TZD turbo...

There are some '16' fans on this forum.

As a matter of interest, the 16TGS auto I had sold and sold again for considerably more than £500...

Trust me, a decent 16 with low mileage will appeal to some - even non-BXers - if it's 'new' looking enough. Especially if economy isn't such an issue. Some people (like myself) prefer to pay little for a car and not worry too much about mpg comfortable with the initial very low outlay. :D

I wonder what the actual reserve is going to be? The lady sounded quite posh on her answer phone (my type, haha).

I'm guessing it's going to be nearer a grand than a monkey.

I think I'd be willing to pay that kind of money if the seat wasn't different (made me wonder how that happened too), and if it was a turbo diesel. It'd have to be very, very nice though.

Although I think it's worth a little more than £500 (on face value) - certainly £750 would be tops IMHO. You're right though - the seat issue is going to suppress the price. Maybe keeping interest around the £500-600 mark.

No way a grand unfortunately.

- I like the 16! with exception of the higher tax bracket, it appeals greatly to me as a cheap to run car (tho I admit it HAS to be a Mk1 16)

I honestly chose my BX16 specifically! am I crazy?

Well it has single point injection so no more hot starting problems and I imagine probably more frugal, its actually a 16TXI as it says on the hatch, its got £50 worth of wheeltrims on it for a start, nice car that.
