Bits and pieces for the bx

Post by rob-bx16v »

Hi All,

Due to me unexpectedly finding out my 16v has some hidden rust i need to find £600 for welding/labour. Ive been having a sort through and found some bits and pieces to sell to try and raise some cash towards the repairs to keep the 16v on the road.

If anyone is intrested in anything please pm me with an offer ( nothing stupid )

First up is a bx gti 8v HP pump removed from a h registered 55,000 mile gti. Its untested and was kept as a spare. All the time its been stored its been kept primed with lhm, Is a heavy item so may be expensive to post.

Headlamp protectors ( pair ) removed from our old gti, In good condition slight chip on one of them but nothing major also some scuffing on the ends where they have been rubbing on the indicator lenses also need a good clean.

both sills at the front, both sill ends, inner wing, scuttle through to the whell arch, rear chassis rail, subframe mount and rear wheel arch all need welding. also need a new out rigger in the drivers side rear wheel arch.

If the ignition barrel + loom are from a BX, then they're for a non-ABS model as they don't seem to have the extra connector hanging off the loom, though that could almost certainly be added without difficulty.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Dave ,
IMHO I don't think that is a BX ignition switch as the Brown plug only has two White wires attached to the ends !

Normally a BX fitment has a Black or Brown plug with four Red wires connected on the end of them and also a White plug with four White wires connected on the end of those and if it is for a vehicle with ABS it has a single Green feed fly-wire off one of the White wires for the ABS !

I hope that helps.

I can understand your scepticism, Max!

I'm working from my memory and experience of fitting the Valeo switch I bought last year from GSF. At first I couldn't believe it was the possibly the right part at all.

It had only two outermost wires to the white connector, rather than the four of the original. It did include the ABS lead. I don't remember the colour or connects match on the brown connector, but can check.

I proceeded cautiously, thinking it'd have to go back to GSF. I made a trial fit first to the central console connectors before I made any move to remove the old switch, which had an intermittent connection in the wiring (the reason I needed to replace it).

To my surprise, it worked correctly, and has been on the car since.

Valeo replacement barrel kits have a generic loom, infact the citroen replacement part looks identical to that, i have two one in the car and one stored, and bar a missing ABS feed the wiring looks identical.

I suspect Rob-bx16v could easily plug the wiring into his BX (disconnect old, connect new) and see if the car starts and the lights etc work. 2 minute job i imagine?

Nobody is keen on the situation where they have to make an offer and so risk offending someone. A price is always vital if you want to shift something, even if it's only a rough guide...

ok fair enough,

nobody would offend me and im quite flexible on prices.

At a rough guess

£5 for mudflaps?
£5 for ign barrel and keys ?
£15 to £20 ish for jvc cd player ?
£5 for headlamp protectors ?
all plus postage charges on top ( or collection )

hp pump on ebay at mo with £5 starting bid.

hope thats any better :D
