Camping with BX people at sprintime

Post by Thijs »

Every year at springtime we go camping with a bunch of BX people.
Mostley we go to France, we keep this good tradition up for the last 10 years.

But after 10 years we have had enough wine chees and baguette.
So our plan was to visit the UK at spring 2010.
We don't have any idea yet wich part we want to visit.

Any sugestions?

I can highly recommend North Wales...
Especially if you enjoy rain!
Seriously though - what sort of trip are you after? Culture, scenery, peace and quiet, partying or a mixture...

We are after a mixture.
We love to drink some beers at the campside at night. But we also love to visit culture.
Wales is beautiful, but rainy. On the other side, if you want sunshine don't visit the UK. No offence.

At the risk of causing a flurry of complaint, I'd avoid the south. It's too busy. Head north. In April 2008, me and some 2CVing chums headed to Scotland. Got to camp in the snow in places (amazingly, it wasn't too cold) and it was truly, truly beautiful and free of tourists that time of year. If you're crossing the channel, might as well go the whole hog!

Or, Peak District right in the middle of the country. Again, very beautiful but it can get busy on the rare occasions that the sun shines!

Or North Wales. As has been said, it's an amazing place.

The Peak District is right on my doorstep & even though i'm biased, its a beautiful area with some nice roads, very busy in the summer though, less so at other times of the year.

Or how about some of the fantastic countryside around Newcastle/Durham area, with interesting roads as well, superb. Or a trip to the Isle of Skye, if the weather is nice, its magical. Loads of ideas :D

OK, OK..

It's just that I went down on Saturday for the Speed Trials and had a fantastic day... as well as having a great night out too... and my brother lives there... so maybe I am biased.

Seriously, what about somewhere like the North Norfolk coast, or near Warwick Castle or some such 'attraction'?
