Something rather appealing about this one, i just wish the n/a engines had a bit more power & torque & then it would be spot on as an estate. Either way, with 12mths mot at that price, looks good value.

If I don't find a replacement head for mine then I'll be looking for one myself before October!
Hey Phil, do you reckon your new avatar is what I'll look like in 20 years time?

As long as that?!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

There's torque aplenty from low down, which is why they were so popular as tow cars, and handy for the same reason where it's really up-and-downy - unless the clutch is starting to slip. I guess it all depends on what you want from a car -they're certainly not a fireball, but they don't need rowing along with the gearstick.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Plenty of torque, i've never felt it  In all seriousness, by modern standards the torque figures are pretty lame, ok i'm comparing them to turbo diesels but hardly anyone these days makes n/a diesels, or do they?

Hardly anybody makes BXs any more either, or do they?

So you take it for what it was/is (cheap(now), straightforward, reliable if looked after, tugs loads along happily but not rapidly), consider putting a different lump into it if you must drive one but can't live with the original engines, or buy...I don't know... perhaps a Ford Focus TD estate for a similar-sized pressure-fed electronically-controlled turbodiesel estate. Or maybe an HDi Xantia estate? Plus the breakdown cover and the odd ECU reset, too. Simples.

1.9D estates are a bit like the older Landrover - workhorses to be appreciated on their own merits - and used.

With regard to the NA diesel, I've never found them particularly sluggish, especially the XUD9A. Yes, they don't accelerate particularly quickly, but they can easily maintain high speeds, and don't drop back too much on the hills either (plenty torque, but yes a tad more power would be nice...)

Mind, the NA XUD7 in the 205 and Visa D are positively nippy; I used to love pissing off the reps speeding past them in my old 205! I managed to get the speedo on the stop with that going down the big hill on the M62, which did feel a bit like Back to the Future...
