sent box vs outbox?

can anyone explain the difference between these two items in the 'mail' facility - I'm wondering if recent mail messages i've sent are getting thru - they show in 'outbox' yet mails i sent months ago show in the 'sent' box! Steve

Messages and replies remain in the outbox until picked up by the addressee,

So you can at least see who - and who has not - received your mail.

messages stay in the OUTBOX until they have been READ by the recipient, the member might have logged onto the site, but if they havent gone and READ the message it will stay in your OUTBOX.
