re
Thanks for your advice. It is coming off a car that has sat for a while but they started it and everything still works and it rises in 25seconds, so i have been informed. Is there a refurb kit available that i can use before fitting it to make sure it doesn't go pop straight after fitting.
Thanks

There's a kit available from Citroen still (I think?) that has been mentioned before on here.
I think you get the O - rings for the 4 end caps, 2x nylon filters and the LHM pipe seals.
I personally don't think the kit is needed unless the FDV is actually leaking. The only main thing is to remove and check the 2 filters.
There is a sticky about FDV valves in th eforum and in my late blog "cyril's progress" I took photos of the dismantled FDV valve.

just riseing is not proof the flow valve is any good, as it has nout to do with the upwards motion of ther car,
and in GSF's 06 catalouge they list flow valve N43444 95 quid
and a repair kit N43444A 27 quid,
but this device has to be calibrated on reassembly,
also i certainly would not pay 50 quid for a second hand unit how ever long it had or not been standing,
if your going to pay that i can find you two or three for that price
regards malcolm

Sorry I don't agree there - a faulty FDV can prevent the suspension and brakes from pressurising if the main slide valve sticks, most of the in-flow from the pump goes straight through the stuck FDV and then through the PAS pinion valve back to the LHM tank and no pressure rises in the accumulator as a result. The only thing that seems to work is to move the steering to full lock whereupon the pressure rises due to the pinion valve closing. It took me a week to figure out why this was the cause of my non-rising BX.as it has nout to do with the upwards motion of ther car,
@BXnut, -what is wrong with your current FDV? are you certain it's the problem?

Hi Graeme M
My FDV is leaking and has been for quite a few years but this year it nearly failed the MOT on it so I thought it about time I replace/fixed the problem. It only leaks a small drop but I cannot see where from, it looks like it comes from one of the two what look like blanking caps on the drivers side next to a pipe bracket bolt. It has only needed topping up with LHM twice in the six years I have owned her, which is why I have not bothered before now. She eventually passed the MOT after a heated debate that it had passed the previous six with the same fault. I just don't want the same problem next year and have a car with no MOT until I have time to fix it

To save a lot of hassle & expense, why dont you just clean & wipe the affected area of any dripping lhm when it goes it for its mot, thus elimenating it from being failed. It may well be worth finding a good recon fdv in anycase for the future, but as the guy's have said i wouldnt pay over the odds for an unknown.

Non PAS cars don't have the FDV so the non-PAS cars use pretty much all the same bits as a GS in terms of pressure regulator etc.Vanny wrote:Are PAS and non PAS FDV's the same?
-ah, that's the common spot for leaking - the blanking caps are the end caps for the 2 slide valve bores inside - they're held in by a circlip each and they have an O ring seal that can weep a bit. There are another two on the other side tooit looks like it comes from one of the two what look like blanking caps on the drivers side next to a pipe bracket bolt.
As Mulley says you could just give them a wipe prior to the test next time - it's what I did!

I think they all leak there when they get old, but it does not seem to stop them working.
I got a BX through the MOT for a few years by smearing chemical metal by plastic padding around the blanking covers, stopped the leak for a bit.
I bough one from Pliades eventually, and this has not started leaking yet.
It was pricy though.
