Do all Bx's have sunroofs?

Post by Mike P »

Morning all,

Do all Bx's regardless of model and spec have a sunroof?

I only ask this because quite a few people comment on the intrusion of it into the cabin headroom space.

I'm 6'4" and don't have a problem with it and all the Bx's I've owned or seen have had a sunroof.

Or is a sunroof standard on British / UK cars but not on rest of the world Bx's :?:

Ta,

Mike P.

Hi mike, all the high spec RHD UK ones had roofs (hatchbacks) some of the continental ones didnt. You could always buy a 14E or 17TGD which wont have one

Unless it was ordered with one, as an optional extra as on my Black 17TGD, if you can remember Tim

No 17D's came with sunroofs so yours must of had it as an option along with black superlustre paint!

Not true, no 4tc model had a sunroof, several where sold to the UK, and they are the absolute height of high spec.

That's right Tim it was obviously an option as STATED in my posting (You must get those new glasses as mentioned in one of your postings of today in another thread !

Vanny I cannot agree or disagree with your statement as I am not a 4x4 expert, but IIRC the 4TC were all made as LHD models and therefore were not specifically made for the UK market and therefore lies the reason that they were not fitted with a sunroof maybe ?
But for the record in my BX Brochure dated 01-09-91 under the Equipment specification for an "Electric Sunroof (Not Estates)" it lists the following;

A 'Triangle' designates this item of equipment as 'Option Available On special Order' for these models:-17 TGD and 14 TGE.
So Tim, even your St. Tropez , based on a 14TGE could have had a FF Electric Sunroof from new, if the original order was placed for that option (rather than a after-market tilt/remove type which it has fitted) !

A 'Dot/circle' designates this item of equipment as 'Standard fitment' for these models:- 16 TGS, Meteor (Petrol/Diesel), 19 TZS, 19 TZI, 19 TGD, TGD Turbo, TZD Turbo, 19 TZD, 19 GTI, GTI 4x4, 16 Valve and it even has a BX 4x4 Estate listed as a separate column with a dot/circle against it, but by the default of the statement of "Not Estates" adjacent to the listing for 'Electric Sunroof' I personally think that's a mistake and that it should just be a dash to indicate it is neither a standard or optional fitment.
Unless of course, some out there has or knows of 4x4 Estate with a FF fitted electric sunroof which was supplied for the UK market !
I hope this clears up this perpetual question of sunroofs :!:

4TC's arent that expensive, i've seen them go for £20,000 to £30,000, okay thats a huge sum for a BX, but not really house hold money. However there is a 4TC EVO2 ex-works rally car for sale currently, €110,000 and that is without engine, gearbox, or interior, now thats house hold money!

Kiwi, is this a non UK brochure? Also how is it a perpetual question? I've seen it raised only twice on UK forums in the last 10 years, have i missed something?

Dare I ask why Phil?

There were some racing 16v's, of which at least one is in NZ that do not have sunroof's either.
But at the end of the day, who cares?

Nearly all have, some dont.

The caption is missing from Kitch's otherwise excellent picture that should have read
"anal lube, making arseholes more bearable since 2002"...
It's the same picture so I guess someone's nicked the caption?
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
