Postal strike? What postal strike??

Post by Linegeist »

I ordered new bearings & seals for the forthcoming radius arm job (deep joy  ) yesterday at 1630hrs from good ol' Golf Sierra Foxtrot - then mentally sat back for a week or so to plan the actual job.

The bloody things only went and arrived half an hour ago .................. !!!    Do GSF actually sleep? In fact do they have reflection in mirrors as well??

I guess that's the weekend pretty much rogered then .............

regards
Impressed of Sheepsville

I order mine from the Brummingham branch over the phone and have had them within 2 hours the same day and always found them very helpful!

I'm beginning to wonder if all of the royal mail even are on strike, since i've had little to no actual useful post for about 3 weeks, and yet junk mail still pours through the letter box everyday come hell or high wind..

Now, if someone could invent a spam filter for the letter box, they'd be cajillionaires!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Ja sicher! Ich war in Iserlohn geboren (aber ich habe nicht Deutsch gesprochen seit fast 20 Jahren).

It's a signature I use in the various English forums I infest - I find it makes a good icebreaker.

I see you live in the old DDR ........... a fascinating place. My other hobby is restoring motorcycles from the old Zschopau works.

Ach ja? I live in the former W.Germany, so my location is not strictly vaild but a lot of its former residents fled down here thinking it was some sort of Shangri La once the wall fell and sometimes it feels like the former East.
Was your father in the military then? Good German you have too. I had no idea what was made in Zschopau but Google provided the answer : MZ.

Oh, what have you got? I have an ETZ250, an ETZ125 and the father has a TS 150...

It's a MuZ Skorpion - a 660cc 4-stroke single - and it sounds just like a Manx Norton on the overrun!

Erm ...... yes - but not your lot. He was in the Kriegsmarine - A KorvettenLeutnant IIRC.

He never could quite come to terms with losing 2 world wars and a world cup to you lot. He went pretty nuts when I joined the British Army. :D :D :D :D

Oooh, I have a soft spot for MZs too - it's strange that I have progressed from oddball East German bikes to oddball French cars...
I learnt to ride on an ETZ125 (XR?) and it amazed me how some aspects seem to be really well engineered, and other parts of it seemed to be made from cheese.

More than a passing similarity to an oddball French car then.

For what it's worth, the Skorpion 660's are the same. However, a lot of parts are made by Yamaha, the frame's a British Seymour-Powell design and the brakes and front suspension are Italian. Sadly, the electrics are by some mad b*****d who had psychopathic tendencies where electrons were concerned.

Skorpion owners like me spend their time replacing the atrocious quality East German materials (nothing wrong with the engineering - it's the cheesium and alumaturdium that goes futz - that and the horrible meccano grade grade wiring.) But when they go properly, it's all worth it because, like BX's, they go like greased weasels and sound/look like an orgasm on wheels.

This one's due a respray in black over the winter ... if I can get the workshop heating system to work this year ...........
