I have a BX van,metallic paint/alloys(16 valve size) /leather seats,16 valve front skirt(all came as standard),1.9 diesel,..i know one other in Southern Ireland,owned by the BX citronien guy,just wondered if any others out there? ( i am the 2CVGB Bijou registra as well,just in case you have a bijou !)

Hi,

I don't think the BX van was ever sold on the mainland British Isles.

I have never seen one, except for a photo of an Irish one. Possibly one of those you mention.

I expect a BX makes a very good van, with self levelling suspension it should ride well.

It is surprising it came with such good equipment, most 80s vans were poverty spec.

He does indeed, i saw it on the M1 as i passed him, & at the National 25yrs of the bx (the same day), very rare indeed. No idea about whether it was sold on uk soil or not though.....

Jayboy does indeed have one, metallic silver or gery I think. Should know as I've seen it 'in the flesh' so to speak.

I was quite close to the Shovebus BX van today... (but didn't get around to having a look at it!)

as far as i know these were only made for southern ireland and were for normal use for people who wanted a car type thing but they were a lot cheaper because of tax rules,a lot of companies made vans that werent sold anywhere else,they mostly went to younger drivers,hence the alloys,etc,i think only 20 were made,in 1994,the last year of bx production,and they were made by heuliez,the coachbuilder for citroen,not sold in uk and only very very few were made in l-h drive for france,all with 1.9 engines i think..may be wrong,im just putting another engine in mine as camshaft went..back on the road soon hopefully...

hi..no,i heard about it by accident and swapped it for a gt bx by going over to dublin on the ferry with the bx gt and coming back on the same ferry with the van...that was about 6 years ago now...the vans been mostly in france ( no one had seen one there either)but i am back in the uk now for good.

HI JUSTIN...van now has 1.9 engine fitted..am going to send something to you once all bits completed,with some pics,for citroenian

theres a huge tax break for 'commercial' vehicles here in Ireland. I've heard of people blacking out their windows, removing back seats and succesfully getting said breaks, maybe thats one for my estate?
