Insurance Values

Post by Tim Leech »

Just upped the agreed value on the GT to £1750 (from £1000) as advised by Nigel Wild and he gave me a valuation certificate, Footman James didnt quibble but wanted to see the form, the 16v is £1000 as is the TRS and the TZI with no arguements.

Whos got what for how much!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Online AA NZ quote TZS $2275 and the TRS $2100 :D me happy more than I paid for the cars. Gave me the leverage I needed to tell AMI (who I insure with) they were undervaluing my car by $500.

How much is your premium?

Txd is insured for a grand, (thats my valuation) on standard car insurance rather than a limited mileage classic car insurance policy. The insurers asked how much it was worth, thats what i told them & they didnt argue about it. I know that if it was involved in an accident they would probably pay me way less than that, but i dont think that by saying it was worth £250 that my premium would have been any less tbh....Hoping it would give me more room to maneouvre regarding a payout.

I tried doing an Agreed Value on The Green Tiger for £500 but they ignored that. I've got the BX, 2CV and my Bond Equipe GT4S (six pot) on the same policy for £159 with Peter D James with unlimited mileage, euro breakdown etc. FJ wanted over £200 for the 2CV on its own, so was a no brainer sadly.

Agreed Value is standard on Fully Comprehensive Policies in New Zealand and has been since way back before the UK cottened on. I think a lot of people struggle to understand that and Agreed Policy pays out for total loss the amount YOU agree on when you take out the policy.

Has nothing to do with insured values which in effect only pays out the current market value. How many of you or do you know have insured a car for say 6k and been paid out half that? Agreed Value eliminates that negotiation. Worthwhile policies IMO.

Not bad and your excess is?

Just renewed the TZS came out as $277 with $250 excess and unlimited mileage, Free Glass cover. Works out $100 per year more than the non BX we have. (current exchange rate nz$=43p)

I have not found a mileage limited policy here yet?

That is cheap! I have the 16v and the TD insured fully comp, for me and Mrs Bandit for £175 for the year, unlimited mileage, uk & euro breakdown etc. £200 is a lot for a 2CV isn't it!?

To be fair, the £200 did include business use, and I've stopped that now as I don't use the cars for business. Excess is £50 or £100, can't remember.

FJ do also offer a 'fleet' option.

Got an online quote from pdjames.
Please be aware that vehicles have to be 1989 or earlier to get any cover.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.
