Hello BXers,
I've joined the forum here as I've a wee challenge on my plate - fixing a friend's BX 1.9D auto. I own a Citroen myself, a 1978 GS X2, but other than that and my first car, a Citroen Dyane 6, not that familiar with them.
This is my friend's third BX. The second one was auto too and the first one was a manual. All were diesels. Unfortunately 5 days before the current one spat it's dummy out, No. 2 was scrapped having sat in a lock-up for four years and cubed. Talk about bad timing.
Rather than seeing this one suffer a similar fate, I'd rather get it running again, then decide what to do from there. The incentive is it's currently sitting in the lock-up where my car should be resting this winter
Cheers,
Rich

I'm in Dublin, the BX is near Glasgow as is my Volvo 343 auto. I'm back and forth a bit.
The GS is my daily driver. Overall, 6 cars in three countries. I need help!

They're mostly from September 2008 when I got the car. I'm looking for my camera just now and I might of left it in Glasgow.
I'll start a new thread (here) on the BX problem.

Ouch! What a sad end to a lovely GS X. My DAF 66 was stolen / crashed and in a rushed replacement purchase I became a GS owner.
Thanks for all the welcomes. I wouldn't mind a BX, but I've too many cars as it is and it's too new for importing here. Anything less than 30 years old here and it a lot of cash to register. (In the case of a BX €720 VRT and Motor Tax on 1905cc €614 p.a.)
The GS is more pocket friendly as being over 30 when I imported, it's €50 VRT and motor tax at €48 p.a.
In either case add insurance at 3 to 5 times the cost of UK insurance and it's stupidly expensive to run a car.
I suppose I could try and find one here to avoid VRT, but I'm struggling to think of when I last saw one. Previous scrappage schemes have probably finished off the few that were going around.

Well I took it over on the boat Dec 2008, but that cost €290 rtn to Liverpool.Aerodynamica wrote:I live in Glasgow!!!! I really want to see that GS in the metal!
This Christmas trip was 26th-5th. €6 out for wife and I, and £2 back. My justification for having cars either side of the water
Boat travel does have massive luggage advantages though, but Larne-Troon is Mar-Oct only.
(Must keep on top of the bodywork)
