As I got more interested in them (one time helping my dad swap the head from one car to the other after a cambelt failure) I looked up the XU9J4 engine code online and found a page detailing the conversion into 205s. This tiny little car that handles like a go kart, with an engine too big for it, I promised myself I'd own even back then, 10 years later here I am!

I thought I'd leave a hello post here. My name's Guy, 22 year old Motorsport Engineering student in Swansea Met. I don't own a BX, but rather a 205 with an XU9J4 lump in it (don't worry, this one came out of a 405
), but my fascination with PSA cars stems from a pair of BX19 16Vs my mum owned as a kid. At one point she had an F reg and an H reg, both black a phase 1 and a phase 2. She used to drive like a lunatic everywhere and I loved the engine noise from it.

hehe, don't worry, I'm not about to go breaking any BX's. If I chance across one that's worth keeping on the road and not a lost cause, then chances are I'll keep it on the road for the cool factor - the adjustable ride height does it for me
. The only thing I'm currently after is an engine loom, as the abortion that is my 205 loom is suspect and I believe to be the cause of a misfire (having tried pretty much everything else, there's not really anything left that could be causing it).

I approve anyway! Although I used a 405 as the donor too.
Cracking car, and I know what you mean about the noise, it's pretty good for a 4 pot...

Thanks for the welcome folks
.
Mat, the induction noise of an Mi16 is something else. From outside the car it's even better. 16v XU engines have a grunty sound reminiscent of the old BDA engines, and when tuned to run at higher RPM they sound even better in my ears!

I always fancied a 205 Mi16, and I love 205s in general. I was very close to buying a 1.9, then saw that insurance was considerably less for me on the 16v BX.
I love the noise of the D6C as well... Got to be up there with the 4-pot greats? I think Honda Civic Type-R (EK9), and the Fiat twin-cam have it beaten, but there is something very special about it. Rather throaty, but where most engines start to sound strained, the Mi16 really starts to sing. You might even say harmonic?
My BX gets a lot of love from everyone I work with (Those who know what it is anyhow
) and all my mates all basically said, sarcastically, it looked very 'Retro' and then I took 'em for a drive in it... Down my favourite B-road. Needless to say they haven't taken the piss since
There is something to be said for the q-car appeal of the 16v, especially the Phase 1.
Good to have you on board... Welcome to the club!

OK, not as good as the one in the 306 but here is the sound from outside!
I reckon it's up there with the great 4 pots, but the Alfa twin cam (later also twin spark) has to be considered as well.
I'm only just down the road from you during holidays - I live in Blaenau Ffestiniog - if you ever fancy a B road blast around this way then let me know!

And that is probably my biggest problem with the valver, having to be inside the damn thing!24seven wrote: From outside the car it's even better
This is starting to turn into some sort of 'BX Scrappers Anonymous' meeting. My name is Vanny and i have personally scrapped 3 valvers and helped in the 'recycling' of many more.

Hi, my name is Chris, I've killed 6 (ish) valvrs, and many many more lesser BX's, but after years of therapy, I no longer feel guilty about it!
Vanny, Mersey Tunnel, at night, all the windows down, give it large. Ace!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
