WANTED: Speedline Alloy Wheel Bolts

Post by scrappydoo »

As per title, I've got 7 but just need the other 9 or possibly just 5 if I was to get some locking wheel nuts.

Regards

Is it true these bolts were also on the CX and XM, and if so were they on the steel wheel type or only on alloy wheels as well.

Steel wheel bolts be different as they have a convex shoulder that mates with the concave hole in the wheel. Alloy bolts have a flat washer style shoulder as do the alloy wheels

Echoing Bandit,

the bolts on BX CX XM alloy wheels are the same, and have the washer and flat base.

the bolts for the BX steel wheels are much shorter and have the taper base and no washer. I expect the XM and CX are the same, but I have never worked on these which did not have alloys fitted.

You cannot get it wrong, it is obvious when they are incorrect.

The only thing to look out for is the shorter bolts used (I think) on the AX,
which would only have a couple of threads in the bx hub hence unsafe.

I wasn't so obvious when I put a steel rim on in place of a Speedline after a puncture, using the Speedline bolts. I did much head scratching when the car wouldn't move.

there is a specific steel wheel for use with the alloys, they have 1mm spaces welded onto each bolt hole so that you can use the alloy bolts with the spare. Most people seem to buy sets of alloy wheels without the 'special' spare steel!

Echoing Bandit - that\'s me. I have to go via a proxy server to get on here since the webfusion event. It seems to like putting in \\ when I use an apostrophe and prevents me using smilies (sad) and clearly does the odd double post (annoyed). Any way, must dash, I need a (wee)
