Carburetor Repairs

My carburetor (1.6RE 1989) has been causing more and more trouble due to the spindle being very worn.

I have now managed to get a new one off ebay after having a search running for 6 months, but I would like to mention Peter Bowley of UKCarbs who has been very helpful and was going to repair the current one.

Before I had not found any way of fixing my carb (I posted here)and my BX was looking like a scappage candidate

If anyone has carb probs I am sure Peter will try to help, from talking to another forum member I know that they are sometimes a problem.

Was it a Weber Carb that you bought?

If so I'd advise you also to get a repair kit for your new carb from Webcon .. soon they will be more precious than gold dust.

Also If you are using a Weber I'd also advise you to change your throttle cable as the Weber seems to be particularly sensitive to the least bit sticky throttle cable. Anyway, if you don't want to change your throttle cable then remember that for posterity .. the throttle cable hardly ever gets blamed when it's hard or impossible to adjust the carb.
